Spindle packing replacement 111T

    How do I replace the graphite packing? I have undone the locking nut and does the spindle just pull out to enable the old packing to be removed? I have done this before but I can't remember how I did it. I want to replace this packing on my 22 and well as a couple of 8R's. I got the correct parts from Basecamp.

    Hey, Grunter,

    You have to remove your cleaning needle, before pulling out your spindle. Once the needle is removed, with a little futzing around, the spindle should come free. Good luck, and God Bless!

    What Doc said. You unscrew the spindle until it seems to not unscrew anymore. Then you have to gently pull out. The odd time the graphite packing will hold the spindle in.
