    I have a 425E suitcase stove that I inherited from my parents. It has been used extensively by all of us over the years. The problem I have had lately is a small yellow flame sometimes (but not always) burns where the generator goes into the manifold. I've tried everything I can think of to remedy the situation. I disassembled the generator, soaked it in carb cleaner, and scrubbed it all clean. I also tried another cleaned/rebuilt generator. I tried changing the tip of the generator, making sure the tip was tight. I ran a pipe cleaner thru and blew out the bend of the manifold. I also took the burners apart and cleaned them as well. I thought that maybe something got bent and it was an alignment issue. It looks like the alignment is right by just eyeballing it, but I'm not sure if the generator is supposed to go straight into the manifold or not. Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing this problem? Any way to figure out proper alignment? Would a brand new generator fix the problem? Any help would be appreciated. I really want to keep this stove running for sentimental reasons.

    Having said all this, the stove actually burns just fine. It is just the annoyance of this little flame sooting up the pots and pans. I don't know if it matters, but I only burn fresh Coleman fuel in the stove.

    Thanks!

    flooding of the manifold? i pump the living @#$%! out of the tank first, douse the burner and generator with a little meths, 'prime', and then open wide

    for me, it's when things are cold (being a relative term down here) that flooding and flames out of the manifold occur...

    so perhaps a 30-second prime with alcohol to see if this cures the problem?

    if its happening after the stove's manifold, generator, and burner have warmed up, then i'll have to defer to the experts here...

    It occurs when stove is warm. Not just a priming issue, but I appreciate the reply.

    I got a used suitcase once that had irregular and unstable flame patterns. When I took apart the main burner I found an old wasp nest. Works fine now.

    Run a pipe cleaner thruogh the manifold. You may have a spider web in there. Simply blowing air thru will not work.

    Does the flame continue for a while after you have shut off the valve? If it is leaking around the treads of the tip of the generator, it will. If not you can at least focus on the other suggestions.

    Have you tried using one of those propane adapters for it? They have a nice spring that sucks the vaporizer tube right up into the receiver. If you don't have the problem with that, you might just have something a length of spring can solve by holding the thing closer together for the white gas tank.

    If you can't find the propane adapter, try bending the tabs on the tank down so that you get a gravity assist holding the tank on.

    There are two possible causes for this;
    1. The nozzle is not tight to the generator tube.
    2. there is a small pinhole leak in either the generator tube or in the brass of the nozzle.

    If the former then all you need do is tighten up the nozzle to the generator. If the latter then you need a new nozzle or new generator. Whole generators are easier to find.
