Good Grief! What kind of kerosene are they talking about? Either they have it confused with propane/bottled gas of some sort (and do a bungled job of explaining even that) or I have been using kerosene improperly all this time! When posting "How To's" online, especially when covering potentially hazardous operations, one should be sure they have their information straight! Regards, Doug E.
I think the hosting site, namely Trails.com should be held responsible if someone got injured following this "clowns" instructions. Just can't believe the stupidity HAGD Ian
I'm sure they're talking about propane albeit doing a poor job of it. Too bad there isn't a way to leave feedback. Kerosene. Not very darn likely. HJ
I just wonder how many people tried to use kerosene after reading that garbage. Would explain all the burned Coleman suitcase lids. Jeff
Article Written By Jennifer Eblin Jennifer Eblin has been a full-time freelance writer since 2006. Her work has appeared on several websites, including Tool Box Tales and Zonder. Eblin received a master's degree in historic preservation from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Historic preservation also includes preservation of flammable objects. If it was kero it would never light Maybe someone should take her a true 2 burner kero Coleman and video her lighting it. It would be a youtube hit although it could be a little long
Google her name, she's on some site called Helium...but I can't get the contact link to work....ah, looks like you have to join the site. It's pretty funny too; on her bio she states something to the fact that she's someone who knows a little about everything, and a little about nothing. http://www.helium.com/users/293065 someone please join that site and inform her that camp stoves are definitely something she knows little about.....or at least the fuels that run them and maybe she outta be careful when writing "How To's" when it comes to flamables...
You know the derivation of the word expert? Ex= has-been pert= forward/cheeky Therefore, an expert is someone who used to be forward but is now backward.
I prefer the phonetic meaning as descibed in southern parts of the world x = an unknown quantity spurt = a drip under pressure both descriptions can be equaly applied
It would appear that the author once watched a propane stove being lit and decided that was sufficient experience to become an expert. The person who controls content for this site is to be blamed for a clearly incoherant article that might result in a disaster.
That is pretty typical writing for a journalist, in my opinion. Even on real news sites, when you read about something of which you are familiar, the errors are amazing. That is why I doubt pretty much everything I read or hear in the news.
The state side version of expert is similar. (Ex= has been. Spert = drip under pressure) Therefore an expert is a "Has been drip under pressure". I believe under this definition this woman journalist trustfully qualifies as an expert. Mike...
Just by reading through the article made me dizzy as I could not tell what the author was referring to a stove or a plumbing. Obviously someone will have a bad experience if the instructions are followed. Ron
I tried to get a free trial membership at Trails.com so I could leave feedback, but they wanted a credit card, so I aborted the sign up. If it's free, why do I need a credit card? Shows you what a good website Trails.com is that they couldn't spot something so vague and fraught with error. The really sad thing is that the photo in the article looks like it actually might burn kerosene, but clearly it's not the type of stove with a regulator or a green screw in bottle of "kerosene". HJ
Well, I found a "Contact Us" link. I sent them the following note: It'll be interesting to see if they take any action. HJ
Heya Jim You were much more polite in your letter than I was in mine that I sent last evening. Guess I'm just curmudgeonly! Best, Gary
