(I know this is probably heresy on this board... please be kind to a newbie!) On a recent camping trip with a friend, we shared his Svea123 + SiggTourist setup... I thought it was so cool that afterwards, I managed to pick up a set on eBay. It's in generally good shape on the whole, but for actual cooking, I tend to prefer anodized aluminum over the classic "plain" in the Sigg set... so I started wondering if there's a modern set of pots that might have similar-enough dimensions to the Tourist such that I could still stow the windscreen and stove inside. From some random googling, a candidate that looks like it might fit is a Primus Litech: http://www.basegear.com/primus-litech-super-set.html but it's not available locally so I'm not sure if the dimensions are close enough... Anyone ever tried a setup like this? If so, what pot(s) seems a good fit?
Welcome Beaker, its just a matter of preference, price, and the dimensions to fit your 123 hence any combination will work with the 123. There is also the Coleman and the Esbit cook kit. Non-stick coating would be better. Enjoy your new stove. Ron
I know there are lots of pots that will fit just the 123 (stove) itself, with the classic windscreen. I'm looking for a set that will fit the larger stand-and-windscreen set that comes with the Sigg Tourist. I'm not familiar with Esbit, where can those be found?
Welcome Beaker, I understand your question, as I managed to assemble a Taiwanese clone tourist set from a thrift store, a member here, and a purchase of a 123 with a partial set off of Craigslist! If you keep your eyes peeled and go to thrift stores, watch Craigs and Ebay, you may find the pots you need. If you don't... You need to look for camping pot sets with the same type of stacking bottom match up, like this set of aluminum billies- I actually dug out my clone set ( which I am using as my backpacking set right now ), and checked these against it. Only one of the pans from the stacking set fits, but it fits perfectly. I have also seen stainless pans in the stacking format. If you have time to hit the thrift shops, flea markets, yard/garage sales, etc. You will surely turn up something that works for you. The Alpine SS set from Msr might set on top of your windscreen/stove holder, but no locking feature. Best, Randy edit- If you notice, the set pictured was a thrift store find. 5 pans two "skillets" or plates and a "spondonical" for 2.99usd. :-) edit 2- I just went back and read the first part of your post. Duh. Anodized with the stacking option might be harder to find, but I KNOW it's out there in stainless if you look. edit 3 For an anodized set without the stacking, and again, leaving the tourist windshield setup behind, I learned from others here, ( and assembled one for myself ) that the Coleman "Exponent" or "Max" solo pot set (two names for the same set) makes a great marriage with a Svea 123. Read some on the forum and you'll see the set up.
Thanks for the input! What I'm really hoping for is a set that will allow the Tourist windscreens to fit inside. (I don't really care about double-stacking... as long as a single pot fits on top of the Tourist stand by itself, my needs as met. I'll keep poking around; I may order the Primus Litech set if I can find it cheaply enough.
The Primus set looks nice and might do the trick. I have been looking for a nice set for mine too. I am not a huge fan of plain AL too. Jeff

I went and poked around at my local REI... turns out the MSR Alpine 2 is almost perfect in size and configuration (and even looks a lot like the Tourist pots): http://www.cascadedesigns.com/msr/cookware/expedition-cookware/alpine-2-pot-set/product It's stainless steel, though, so it's a bit heavy.
The smaller 1.5L pot doesn't really sit on the windscreen. It will balance but wants to slide into the windscreen or off. That said the upper and lower windscreen will fit inside the 1.5L pot. So it all stacks together. Jeff
