£16 for 5 liters so more expensive than unleaded but much cleaner. My 502 is enjoying a tankful and next up is my matching green Coleman 220F twin mantle lantern 8)
nice 502! our naptha (Coleman fuel) runs US$8.99 a gallon at the local Wally World - it's expensive, which is why i like kerosene (paraffin) for stoves and (during the winter) my big Petromax clone... (kerosene runs about US$38 for a five-gallon can at local hardware stores)
$8.99, expensive? Try $18.64 per US Gallon, which is what I just paid! Paraffin is 1/3rd of the price, which is why we like brassies over here
At current prices, Coleman fuel is only ~ $1.40 per gallon more than Kero here, and much easier to find. Alcohol, on the other hand, is $ 15-20 per gallon!
Yup, it seems that the fuel tank is sized for a weekend's cooking, without a refill.. I always top off mine every other day tho...
Aspen was about £12.75? when I first got some. I'm back on panel wipe as my local Aspen supplier (40 mile round trip) has stopped selling it.
When I first bought Aspen it cost me £15.95 for a five litre jug. Yesterday I bought 2 five litre jugs (from the same retailer) and it cost me £12.34/jug. This is the latest stock, just delivered to my retailer during the week. Why it is reduced in price I don’t know, perhaps more people are buying Aspen 4 and 2 (I also bought 2 five litre jugs of Aspen 2 for my strimmers and leaf blowers.) Compared to Coleman fuel which is around £6.00/500ml in outdoor shops Aspen is dirt cheap at a tenth of the price. We have only one retailer for Aspen 4 in the North of Scotland and that is a 70 mile round trip for me. There is another retailer that only sells Aspen 2 and will not stock Aspen 4 and he is 50 mile round trip drive. One of my brothers that lives north of Inverness has no retailer selling Aspen 4 so, like Richard, used panel wipe. Cheers, Rob

because you keep buying petrol stoves in tins and you want to feed them the best fuel you can 8) i'm back on PW at the moment (no car and it's 40 miles to the nearest stockist) and i can't wait to pay for some Aspen, even if it costs what you paid, PW is ok but nowhere near as good as Aspen
Yes you're right there Bill ! Some of the really tasty ones are getting sent to my mums in Dorset, so i am going to have to wait until my next visit to get my hands on them !

With Coleman fuel at about $7 per gallon and Kero at about $8 gallon, I am forever thankful for BIG OIL!
OOOOOooo Clotted ! Cream teas are the best thing on the planet ! last November we had a works trip to London, all Danes apart from me ! Some just wanted to get legless and some wanted the culture. A visit to a tea shop to indulge in Assam tea and a few freshly made scones was a must. But no Devon clotted cream . Thanks for the offer Bill.
Spending extra for good fuel is like deciding whether to drink cheap vodka or Glenmorangie. It depends on your taste and your budget. My Coleman stoves and lanterns would run just about as well on unleaded gasoline at about $3.20 US per gallon ($.85 per liter) but I choose to use Coleman fuel at $8.88 per gallon ($2.34 per liter) because it is less smelly, better for my health (not so many pesky carcinogens), and a bit easier on the equipment (generators last longer). I also have some spendy low-sulfur kerosene that I use for things that will burn indoors, but regular 1-k is odorless in my 129 lamps. If it ever became an issue I'd downshift in an instant, but as long as this is just a fun hobby I will pay a bit more for good fuel. The fact that it's still pretty cheap for the good stuff on this side of the pond helps. Aspen sounds like good stuff, maybe even better than Coleman fuel for some purposes.
