Another possibly-dumb newbie question... I got my first Svea 123 a couple weeks ago, and by an astonishing coincidence, a local outdoor store that was going out of business had a bowlful (!) of the mini-fuel-pumps for it, at the price of US$2 each... so I picked up a couple.

But my vague understanding is that I need a special fuel cap to use it -- my stove only came with one cap, and I have no idea if it's the right kind or not. How can I tell?

The tit that protrudes from the cap is round on the cap that fits a pump, also the stem that is on the back side of the cap is longer on the pump cap.

The regular cap has an octagon shape.

That was a screaming deal on the pump.

This picture may clear things up.

Great deal on the pump !!! You might want to go back and buy the rest. Sell them here or ebay.

    Cheers,

Doh! I didn't realize that was a good deal. What do they normally go for? There were at least 6-8 left. But I think the store (Wilderness Exchange in Berkeley, CA) is closed for good now, I just happened in there on their very last day. (They were even selling off their office supplies...)

Hmm... it appears I have the normal cap (pentagon on top), not the pump cap. So the pump won't do me much good. Oh well.
