I am in the proces of fettling a Svea Range wich has been run on amongst other things turpentine. The grime in the tank is devided into 3 non blendable layers as can be seen in 2 pics. Artificial intelligense is no match for natural stupidity I heated the burner and spirit cup in order to burn off some of the grime/slime and what a bonfire. Then i chucked it onto my cartridge case tumbler. I use porcelain beads, boiling water, citric asid and a little dishwashing detergent. 45 min later it looks way better
What a fascinating idea. The burner head looks unbelievably clean. I like your tumbler gadget - looks home made to me. Can you give more details of its construction? What motor do you use to turn it? I never heard of porcelain beads. Where do they come from? Yonadav
Something i tossed up many years ago. Some 200mm PVC tubing, a wiper motor and some assembly. The porcelain beads was bought at a local industrial polishing company. Seen here on some A4 5mm square paper for size.
Thanks. I still can't figure out how you attach the ring with 6 bolts that hold the transparent cover.
Very nice!!! And you get extra points for both being a CCS member and also owning a cartridge case tumbler. These are very handy for polishing small parts. Do a search for Thumbler's Tumbler.
Here is a company that offers brass polishing media that consists of small stainless steel bits. http://www.stainlesstumblingmedia.com/
