Call me stupid, but I wanted to test the Campsor-9 stove running on kerosene, even if the manual said that its recommended to use a mixture of 20% petrol and 80% of kerosene. The nipple on this stove is rather big, and the vapouriser tube is very high so that's why I double preheated with meths first. It still sputtered a bit yellow, so I preheated some more. Now the stove started to roar as it should, and I didnt see any problems with this fuel either. I flipped the bottle as with petrol and there was no fuel in the fuel line when the stove had stopped. Now I know that if I am out of petrol, I can use kero as well. The stove is reasonable easy to clean up in case there is carbon building up inside, and the "shake neadle" seems to work also
My friend and I had a hard time getting his to preheat properly with kero in a good breeze. Whatever we did the flames just came horizontally out of the burner housing and didnt touch the vaporizer tube. I was considering a chimney-like arrangement the diameter of the burner body with three slots to locate it over the pot supports.
Well there was a small breeze today, but the windshield did a rather good job so the flames did go up towards the vaporiser tube also. I guess that if I had used meths a third time, I wouldn't have had any yellow tops of the flames at first at all. It is possible to pre-heat with kero also, but that makes a lot of soot on at least the underside of the burner plate, and also on the vaporiser tube, so it is preferable to use meths
Love that cherry-red!!!! I am so old fashioned that I am not into the new-type generation of stoves - but I could be converted!!
I am old fashioned also but have been searching for a stove to put in the Trangia set for a very long time. When I found this one for such a low price as new, I decided to test it at least, and maybe try to get it into the Trangia set. Well, the stove looked a lot too big at first, but then "Bean" told me that he completely removed the housing that the stove is sitting in, simply by removing a nut underneath, and made an adaptor (or if he had an adapter, that never got cleared out) and it fitted into the Trangia set. When I checked my burner out it had the same nut underneath and it really was easy to remove the housing. Now I only will have to get an adaptor to it and I will have a petrol Trangia. Will have to remember to put water in the kettle then, as it will melt away if it is dry
It is looking good, I look forward to seeing the final set-up. I have never heard of a manufacturer recommending a kerosene/petrol mix before. But I am sure many users do it occasionally. I had found my 550B with the kero generator runs cleaner if I mix a little coleman fuel with the kero. And supposidly, some of the Amish folks use a 25%Kero/75%Coleman fuel mix in all their Coleman equipment.
Hy there. Quite new here. I also have one of these, and I don't get nice blue flame. I run it on washing gasoline because there is no other fuels here in Croatia that is actually usable for fuel stoves, except primus powefuel that is to expensive (9€ per liter ). Does somebody have any idea about this? Also, Petromax can you send me user instructions for this baby, because I have only Chinese one, and don't know how to read it. It cooks, it melts snow, it do everything but the flame is little bit to orange for my taste. I also have Russian 8r i think and Chinese copy of simmerlite, and they are working nice and blue and all they have to. But not the Campsor or what it is. Thanx in advance
