    Hello,
I have acquired a RAT 2/607 stove. It's quite old still in its original box and looks like its never been lit. What should I do to it prior to filling it up and lighting it? Cheers

    Hi Flameout and welcome.

Maybe someone on here will be familiar with your stove but I came up blank. So, could you provide some more info please and photos are always useful.

What you do prior to lighting depends on the fuel type and whether it's a pressure stove or not.

With a pressure stove you would have to ensure all seals and pump are in good condition and only then attempt lighting which would require priming (pre-heating) usually with meths.

Both paraffin and petrol pressure stoves are handled in a similar manner but a little more care is needed with petrol as a leaky seal could result in an explosion - oh, and a 'petrol' stove doesn't burn 'petrol' but a more pure 'white' gas such as Coleman Fuel or Aspen 4T.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,
    John

PS My cousin David lives in Brisbane so say hi from me next time you see him

I overlooked that post George. Really funny, "Well endowed flashing rat" !!!

Did Ross get a photo in the ref gallery of an older and less well-endowed example of the logo I wonder?
