Does anyone use automotive polishing compound to polish stoves? It is the very fine polish used to put a high shine over paint and clearcoat so it is very gentle and contains no chemicals like Brasso does.
Ross, don't you just love that Autosol? I hand polish nickel with it and it pulls up a great shine while leaving behind a lot more nickel. Dan
Evening, Guys, Where can we Yanks find Autosol over here, please? Thanks, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Actually there are a number of fine metal polishing compounds like Metal-glo, Flitz, Maas, etc. Seems most if not all of them are made in Germany. I have used Metal-glo for years but ran out and there seems to be no local supply in the Houston area.
Hey, Ron, Thanks, very much!! I was thinking I could find it in local auto parts stores, but so far have not seen it. Thanks, again, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
Doc, You might do better at a motorcycle dealer - Solvol used push it for use on bikes. It's great stuff on chrome and many other metals but a lot pricier than Brasso. Dave.
Hey, Dave, Thank you, very much, Sir! I'll give it a go, and see what shakes out. Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
I have tried just about every polishing liquid, cream and paste. Autosol takes a lot of beating. I used to use it on my motorbikes in the late 1960s, early 70s. It cleans and polishes any metal. I use it on my stoves, sometimes by hand but often using a Dremel polisher. The Autosol can be purchased in squeezable tubes or in larger tins. Wonderful stuff.
