Too expensive for me? Now Doc might want to take it off his hands. 8) Ohh, and then he can give it to me as a gift.

Auction closed at NZ$333 - is it really worth that much? Looks like a rusty old cooker to me....... (I wouldn't pass it by if I saw it at the dump shop though!)

It is to the person who bought it.
I know DonTom was looking for something similar to stick under the front seat of his Landie ....... did he buy it :?:

In the hands of some of the fettlers on this forum it would return to all it's shining glory in no time.

Personally I'd prefer two 111's ....... even one 111 ...... but that's just me

No, it was a bit rich for me. It really interested me, there don't seem many of them around out there. But it still would have been to large for under the seat of the landie :D

Actually, my wife was egging me on to prevent it going offshore, or at least make the foreign devils pay through the nose.........

Well, it certainly was worth what you were bidding, DonTom. I imagine it would be a worthwhile project and a priceless result. But NZ$333 before you start? I understand that this is a better looking price, depending on the exchange rate, but for me, I would ask how many pots it could heat at the same time, how convenient is it to carry, the heat, cost of fuel etc I'm not as familiar with the brand Optimus as I would be with Primus. Are they related?

I agree Brooook, $333 is pretty high for an old stove. But an Optimus #9 goes for what, GBP800 or so? $333 isn't much more than GBP100. I am looking for a double burner to use, regularly. A new MSR is over $200. That Campingo is starting to look like a good value piece of camping equipment.

Primus and Optimus are very similar, and for a while were the same company, if I understand correctly. There is no real reason for them to wear out. Two adjustable burners, good windproofing, and I'm guessing the heat output would be similar to an Optimus No. 5. I have a double burner Kampkook, which has a good output, but the burners aren't independent, and won't simmer. I'm almost regretting not bidding higher: all the features needed in a camping stove, and collectors value as well!

Time to focus on an Optimus 22!

    You'd be lucky !!

Unfortunaly, if you are a buyer, the prices for most of the 'classic' stoves are going ever higher.

Hope you get yourself sorted with a 22/22B for the Landie :D If it's meant to be, you'll have your stove, sooner or later.

Waited FOUR YEARS for a Taylors to turn up a my sort of price... just found one for ?120, ten hours of cleaning, 100 quids worth of new burners and I finally have the cooker I've been after all that time! The right stove for everybody is out there, and at the right price, but it takes a lot of patience some times!
