In the nostalgia part I've infomation on the Thermos 8425. The two burner version from '63 including the manual.
Like yours a real beauty. Main difference is, next to the number of burners of course, the integrated fuel tank.

Dan Leeds has a photo of a Thermos stove, he may have some info

 

I know this much about your stove; it is made by AGM American Gas & Machine, of Albert Lea, MN, The company is no longer in business but they made a fair product. That stove (yours) is made to burn leaded or unleaded or unleaded auto gasoline. And it will operate quite proper on unleaded white (Coleman fuel) gasoline too. The overlarge generator tells us that. When you choose to operate this stove it would be best to use Coleman fuel as the "leaded gasoline" generator is no longer avaiable and should it need replacing you'll not find another.

Well spotted Dan! Patents & exploded views is fair play I guess but it does p*ss me off when stuff I've hunted out is taken without permission (I'm not refering to the Thermos info) - it would be ok if they were images of the same brochure etc ie another original, if you know what I mean, rather than just lifted from here. Some of that stuff has been contributed to this site & credited - I see no such there. At least we get a link.

I had to swear then laugh the other day at another site showing a collectors stoves. One of the gallery pics has a tale about the history of the stove in use during a famous epic - it's lifted directly from this site - even with the '&' I use instinctively rather than the 'and' the site owner uses on the rest of his site.

At the end of the day the story is the story but why not tell it in your own words. I've written many articles for this site pieced together (& sometimes translated) from various past publications but I NEVER just put it down word from word from the source - I take the info & write it in my own words. I also credit my sources.

I mean - it's not like I don't share the stuff I find!

 

Hi Folks,

I only use some Keywords like "Albert Lea" for searching, but that`s not the Problem. One Burnervalve was hanging and the Pumpvalve is leaking, but with the shorter Pump from the Lantern it works great.

and here are the Pumps, any Idea for repair the Valve? The Dimensions are 0.75 x 5 inch or 19 x 130 mm.

You have good reason to be p*ssed off!!! This site is one of the most sharing and informative I've ever found. It would only be good manners, and honorable, to give credit to you and this site, for information found here, Alas, we live in a world where "honor", as such, has not been taught, at ANY level. So, many people, now days, think that the sun rises and sets in a certain oriface of their body, and that nobody counts, except THEMSELVES!! You have my thanks for undertaking all the very hard work, research, and creativity it took to create this outstanding site; and, you have my condolences, that you have to endure the slings and arrows of dolts who steal from it!! By gads lad you have the very lantern i've been looking for. Originally the upsidedown lantern was made during WWII for use in field hospitals in the operating rooms. Or what passed at that time for such. I've seen one on ebay and one at the Coleman museum in Indiana. Of coarse the one in Indiana is a Coleman not a Thermos but for the price of a Coleman i could likely buy two of the Thermos Models. The Coleman received its patient for the (get this) dectorative styling, not the uniqueness of the model or process of construction.

I also have a Thermos, it is an 8428. Do you happen to know where I can get a new generator, mine is cracked. I am new to camp stoves, this is my first one. Is it possible to put a different brand generator on it?

All the links you give to this site give a "Sorry, the page you has requested has not been found." message.

However, we can see by the large number of links that the number of cases is way beyond a coincidence.

To put a slightly different slant on this thread, Peter has posted some of the images of catalogues that I have posted on this site but he has asked me before doing so and has credited me when I did not ask him to do so.
