Here's the odd fact. 123R's don't have an R on them. The difference is most obvious from the angle of the valve. 123R's are horizontal and 123's angle down from the center.

Lit the little puppy off again tonight. Thought I'd get a leg up on running a few tank fulls through per Doc Marc. Started fine and ran fine(as far as I can tell). After a few minutes there seemed to be a bit of a flame around the 'stuffing box' but didn't last. OK. Put a pot on to boil and when I achieved that I shut it off. Sadly, it continued to flame on at a lower flame and also around the stuffing box. Tried to turn the key off tight but to no avail.
After just a bit I blew it out and seemed like I could hear it venting off.
Doesn't sound right to me. Sounds like the seals might be compromised, yes?
Should I replace anything other than the seals?

I'm guessing, pull the spindle out, may be worn/bent or crud in there. May need new graphite packing. I went thru similar as a newbie stovie last year. You can also relieve the pressure by loosening the cap, but be careful as it could catch. Weeee!

I always try the easy way, first. I'd just use your regulating key/wrench to tighten the stuffing box a bit. That usually takes care of the problem of a small flame in that area. As for your stove not wanting to shut down, a badly adjusted cleaning needle can cause that problem, quite easily. I'd unscrew your burner bell, remove your jet, then crank your cleaning needle up, and with a good pair of needle-nose pliers, remove it, noting the orientation of the gear teeth. Then, turn the spindle all the way to the right. Using much care, place your cleaning needle back into place, making sure you orient the teeth as they were when you took it out. Whilst gently putting pressure on the cleaning needle, in a downward manner, slowly turn your spindle the left, or counter-clockwise, and listen for the "clicks" as the teeth on the cleaning needle engage the teeth on the spindle. Keep the downward pressure on your cleaning needle, as you count the clicks. I usually go at least 4 clicks, and sometimes 5 clicks.. When you get there, then go ahead and turn the spindle to the right, which will lower the cleaning needle into place. Replace your jet, and burner bell, and fire up your little SVEA 123R. If all is well, it should now turn off as intended. If this fails, then, and only then, would I go on to remove the spindle and other such things, to clean the seating area of the point on the end of the spindle, and the point, itself. You will then need a new graphite for the spindle. That's why I always try the needle adjustment before going to the more involved stuff.
