A 1953 (AS) Primus 96 with a blown tank. Note the cracks/stress cracks and deformed tank. Next to another 1953 Primus 96.

I didn't do it. It came that way from ebay.

The good news is I needed a parts stove and the price was okay. It came with a Radius pump.

It looks like it got a little too much pressure or something along those lines. You can see it bulging on the top of the tank more than the other. OR is that the design of the tank. If it is bulging, how is that possible? Could it have had the lid on and the PRV closed and a good NRV AND a very hot day?

A U/S tank, but heaving with lots of spare parts on her !!

 

It is bulging. My thoughts too. That or frozen water did that. There are no dents on the bright side.

I will put some of the spares up for trade or sale soon

Me thinks it could be saved but it would take a lot of work. Sil-braze the split then resolder all the other bits back on. At least two days of work there.

Hi jeff thats the worse stress crack i have seen i rember seeing a tank on here with a stress crack and the bottom being taken out and a strip of brass being soldered from the inside of the tank making a strong repair but i would just sell the remaing parts as spares. i would not atempt to repair it my self as once cracks appear once repaired what is stopping them appearing on other parts of the tank as the brass has become brittle and even though it has been repaired it will never be 100% safe in use and not worth in my opinion the risk

 

I agree 100. She is a parts stove now. The pump will go up for sale once I find my camera. Thinking of making the tank a clock or maybe adding a electrical cord and bulb to it and make a lamp.

Do you just want the tank Lance? The pump, cap and reserve cap have been sold. You can have the tank and nrv for free.

thank youthank you, thank you. Yes sir i'd be plesed to make it work again. Of coarse now i'll have to find the bits to make it up as a stove once more. Or maybe another plan comes to mind.
