Cleaned this one about eight weeks ago, but only got round to firing it up today, sadly it is going to resigned to a display only. When I cleaned it, there were no obvious signs of any problems with it, ie Stress fractures or cracks. Initially it fired up ok, the flame was a bit yellow, turned it off. had a fiddle couldn't see anything wrong. Fired it up again, and I noticed a very fine jet of fuel, was quirting out of the bottom.Immediatly opened the valve up, stress fractures all around the side wall by the pump, and a hairline crack underneath. S**t happens. I have had a run of stress fractures recently. Has anybody any idea why there are two pressure release valves ? My only thought is that the other long one would be if meths was used in it, as the hole in the pressure release valve is a long way from the burner.
Hi Iani, a nice stove and very interesting. This second release seems to make no sense. I'd never heard or seen sth. about this version but i will check some old catalogues for that. The stress-cracks are bad but your ground-marking tells us, that your stove has been built before 1928. And then your second pressure-release makes it very rare and special. There is a chance to rescue your stove, a sealingstuff called "PUR", made for restoring car- and motorcycle-tanks etc. could solve your problem. Hi Ian, a Handsome stove! I wonder whether the tank-top air screw was the original fitting, probably with a "blind" filler cap. Perhaps this cap was lost and then replaced with a later combined filler cap/air release screw. Generally speaking, tank-top air release screws were an "early" feature, being used until the 1920s by some manufacturers. Best Regards, Kerophile.

Found your forum today, very interesting! I've got a similar stove in front of me, but without the little exra pressure relief. The "kettle-rests" are also different, but - alas- could be made "aftermarket", so to speak. Doesn't really look factory-made to me, probably the original ones came astray. Any other feature on the stove is similar, also the stamp at the bottom. Best wishes
