That knee patch is worth 100 alone
If you had 500.00 bucks to spend on a stove or stoves what would you buy?

If I had $500 that i had to spend on stove(s), I'd buy a Svea 158 and another Optimus 111 Swedish military :D/ . Best of both worlds, a range and a compact single burner  . What more could you ask for. Have a Happy New Year!

That item on ebay  is he smoking c**ck or something? If I had $500 I'd put it in the bank until I find an interesting stove or something that makes me curious to learn how-it-works. As an example, the flint-and-steel (which I have one already), fire steel (two of them), or tools that would make fettling stoves much more convenient. Otherwise, pay off some of my bills - the best

Amazing. In a conversation the other day about the original price of Levi's and/or Penney's Foremost brand and I think that was before Wranglers came along. Sears/Roebuck may have had an in-house brand also but I don't remember. Anyway, original price was around $2.98 U.S. back when I was a kid. I'm not a buyer for a leather patch...we used to cut them off and chunk them.
    Best,
    Bob

Call me cynical but I have to think the bids on these two items are the sellers cousin and they are in cahoots. Can I say that here?

    $500 :-k
    Heinze/Geniol.
Brit Military #12 (with cook kit).
The Swiss 111 military stove/cook kit in a box.
I think that would wipe out $500 easy!.
For a moldy hunk of leather? NOT!

Stoves are cheap compared to a lot of hobbies, take a look at vintage fishing gear

I though ebay links were banned?

500 bucks would mean somewhere between 10 to 20 stoves for me to buy! I would never spend that much on just 1 stove...But I promissed myself to spend more time repairing and cleaning the ones I already have and not buy (to many) 'new' ones the coming year. Think I will invest some money though on 'something' to display my stoves in. They are now cluttered around the house & garage, they do deserve a better life!

Best wishes for a happy stove year!

    Nah!
Let's keep it out of the AW list.

I removed the eBay-links (as they will be worth nothing in this post in a couple of months time when they are expired) and added screenshots instead in order to give long term reference to the debate and to keep it out of AW.

And to keep spiritburner happy...

    Hi, Christer,

Well done! Good call on adding the screen shots and deleting the 'bay link, which, as you say, will be worthless in a very short time. Good on ya', my Friend! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    It's absolutely no problems Doug.
I have done the same thing myself about posting links to auction sites without even reflecting on the thought that my link will be totally useless after a few months.

Now you have a happy new year!
I'm already past that since a good time back, and I can assure you that 2011 seems just a tiny bit better than 2010.

500 smackers? At the current exchange rate that is roughly 320.127 British Pounds Sterling. (Subject to change without notice) I might like to consider how many Tilley or Optimus Kero lamps I might be able to buy. :-k Enticing possibilities!
