    Hi folks,

after beeing totally fascinated by the nice looking flame of my Optimus Nova with the silentcap and all these wonderful pictures of old stoves here at CCS i knew that i need more of that 8)
So here are some pictures of my Enders 9060 D i received today.
    1297985456-1_opt_opt.jpg 1297985467-2_opt_opt.jpg 1297985477-3_opt_opt.jpg 1297985488-4_opt_opt.jpg

After revitalising the pumpleather and getting rid of the very old, smelly fuel i made a leakagetest. WOW! Everything's fine 8)
Anyway, after looking at the seals of the pump and refillcap i decided to change them. They were pretty hard and fragile.
I also inspected the NRV and PRV and changed the little seals, too. Now there was just a little cleaning with brakecleaner and i could fire it up :D/

At the moment i'm not shure what to do. Make it look like new or leave it like that and just use it :-k

I have to say that i already love the stove and i'm shure there will be some more old ones to come!

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

    Greetings

To conserve or restore is a personal decision. However, I think we all agree that the flame is perfect just like it is!

I was really surprised of the stoves condition! After only one hour of cleaning, checking, making seals i had these nice flames! I'm still amazed!
From the pictures i saw at ebay i was already prepared for a serious fettle  (which would have been nice, too)
Maybe thats why i got it for little money?!
The second last picture was taken with a lot of pressure and then it is really powerful 8)

Good one. Even though it looks a little rough, it runs really well and there is still a lot of "original" on it and the old lettering looks good -- I would be tempted to keep it as is and look for another that really needs help. Great thing however, you get to do whatever makes you happy and it does not matter one bit what anyone else thinks.

Hi Fenris. Nice flame pattern. On restoration, you could consider a compromise:

Leave the outside of the container as it is, but kill the rust inside and re-paint with heat-resistant paint. Phosphoric acid is good for treating the rust and priming the surface for the paint. Check out the section on "Iron-work":

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

    nice stove.
personal preference would be polish up the brass work and leave the rest as is (ok maybe paint under the burner)

    brew test?

Conserve /Restore ??? Doesn't matter as long as it is still around. Better than being in the tip!

Rocking lil stove! I'm going to jump on the 'clean up the inside tray and leave the rest as is' train. Good catch!

Well, it would seem like the inside of the case needs more attention so that the rust will not eat up the metal. In my case, my enders outer case needed more attention that the inside so I did strip off most of the rust and repainted it. The inside had a few rust spots but nothing to worry about.

I kept the patina on the brass tank as its a user so the patina does give some added layer of protection.

    Congratulations.

    Hello,
thanks to all for your comments

On Saturday I took the stove for a little walk.
    1298321962-11a_opt.jpg

    1298322220-13a_opt.jpg

    It performed really good!
But besides that it was more than just cooking!(with a modern stove)
Hard to explain; but i think that anlrolfe was right: YES,I'M HOOKED! 8)
And it is nice to share this with kind people from all over the world

Today i put some more work on the stove.
I decided to just get rid of the rust on the inside. I treated the cleaned rusty inside with a "rust-converter"( FERTAN swith to english language) I think it does the same as kerophiles Phosphoric acid treatment. Afterwards i painted it with black exhaustpaint. I also found a little piece of heat-reflection-mat and put it in.
Cause i already had it apart i brushed of a little bit carbon from the burner. But not to much 8)
    1298324904-DPP_0375_opt.jpg

Unfortunately i killed the cleaningneedle ](*,) Now i have to try to repair it with a piece of guitarstring
Also will start searching for graphite tape.

I can't wait for the next bargain-stove thats needs a little fettle to stay alive!

    Greetings
    Fenris

P.S.: Ron, really nice! What about some more pictures + flameshots in your "painted my Enders" thread?!

    Fenris,

Don't get discouraged. I've broken several stoves and gotten at least one back together. Not exactly the way we plan on having it happen but you know what they say about experience; "she gives the test first and the lesson later". No worries. Its all worth it and to prove it, wasn't that one of the best cups of coffee/espresso that you have ever had??

Hooked? Hopefully, but on more than just the stoves if you are lucky!

    All the best,

    AR

    Evening, Fenris,

Listen to Brother AR, for he speaks the absolute truth. The only Stovies who have not broken a part, unintentionally, are those WILL, or those that are lying about it!!    We've all been there, and so we know how you feel. But, not to worry, as I'm sure you can fettle it back to it's "needleness", especially if you ask for suggestions here. Those who have already been where you are now, can offer some great tips on how to proceed, I'm sure. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc
