thats the ticket. rat look stoving, it's the future. amazing on the inside but used on the outside. (now back to ebay i go in search of the next stove fix, this trangia just isn't scratching my itch)
Thank you for cheering me up! I´m not discouraged that easy!Good thing was, that i now had a reason to take it appart 8) Well, it was a rainy weekend here in Germany so i spend again some time on my stove. First thing i found out was, that the two graphite-seals were in different condition. The upper one is from the cleaningneedle the lower one from the valve. The valvepackage looks more like a fibertape with only little amount of graphite. Is there a "use/wear" of graphite or was there never that much graphite on? Why? Now that it was almost completely appart i wanted to get rid of the carbon inside the burner. A round brass-brush was very usefull. The simple design of the burner makes it easy to clean. I pumped a bit petrol through it to flush the dirt out. Now it(at least the inside of the burner) is as clean as it left the factory The only dirt left is on the little mesh-screen between the wick and the valve. Now it's time to take a look at the actual reason for disassembling the stove : The broken cleaningneedle My suggestion was to file of half of the needletip and silversolder a tiny pice of guitarstring onto it. Has anyone of you tried that before? Any chance of success? How would you fix it? Here's a picture of all the parts. Very hard to put more parts in a stove i guess, but despite of that it is easy to dismantle. For all you Eagle eyes: The little seal from the pumpvalve is on the wrong side of the spring 8) When i get the new graphitetape i can start putting it back together. Hopefully then i'll have a good solution for the cleaningneedle, too. All the best and kind regards Thomas
