Got my primus N-2 back to service duty, It had a faulty pressure safety valve(It’s a Optimus fuel lid ???),it needed new leather cup pump and the check valve was suck And of course a lot of elbow grease Cant find any date on it
Hi Vega, have you looked at the bottom? If there's only the maker's marks, it's pre-1911. From 1911 on there should be a letter, first in the maker's mark, later in a circle with a number. Best regards, Wim
Wim I dont think this one will be having any markings on the base. More than likely on the riser tube. If none at all, they it will definately be made after 1963. The giveaway is the curvature on the outer ring of the trivet. It is quite noticable on the underside, on the one on this link. https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/17619 Also it is the legs that suggest that it is a later model, as there isn't the nobbly bits on the bottom of the legs. You might be right Ian, but my pre-1911 N°5 also doesn't have the "nobbly bits" on its feet! I assumed the cast iron trivet came with the stove as original which made me think it's an old stove. Ofcourse, being a non-fixed accessory it is not an ideal item to date stoves by . But all in all, it's a very nice stove! Wouldn't mind to give it a place next to my N°6 All the best, Wim PS., never realised they still made the cast trivets later than the 1930's
