OK, spent the last week doing searches all over the internet and seem to find information on the Optimus No7 that I have, but don't know a year or what this box is that the stove is in. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I did contact Optimus and they pointed me to this site for information. Here is a picture of the stove and box.
Well, the box is probably something someone found, made or had made to put the stove in. As to the stove, check here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/122 Here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/9292 Here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/126 And, here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/125 The filler cap design will help you to determine the approximate age of the stove if you look at the pictures in the catalogs I've linked to above. Good luck and welcome aboard. Cheers, Gary
Thank you for the links. I think that I have some good idea of the year range for the stove. The box is the other issue now. It appears to be made too well for it to be homemade. It has rolled edges and nut retainers for the wing nuts that allow the top to slide up and down. Also, there is a radius on what appears to be a heat deflector. Not saying that this isn't homemade, just looks as though it was professionally manufactured. Maybe it is not an Optimus product but happen to fit a No7 in perfectly. Here is a picture of the box open.
No pictures yet, but I would guess, based on the first pic, that your box is an oven... Won't know for sure without more pics, tho.
Looks to function like a heater. I don't think that surround is an Optimus product in any case. So a third party device methinks. Cheers, Gary
I Agree with Gary must be a heater. If it were an oven there would be a separation between the stove and the food, otherwise your food would taste like kero fumes - yuk! Dave
I was able to fire up the old No 7 and she ran real nice. Actually better then the stoves that I usually run while camping. I may end up selling those at garage sales and keeping this one. Burns real clean after inital start-up. I did put the stove in the enclosure and it does apparently run as a heater of sort. Puts out the heat real nice, just need to keep the fuel turned down or the paint starts to bubble if on too high. Neat little unit, glad that I kept it. Thank you everyone for your help on this.
I have the same stove with this box. Don't know any more about box than you.Apparently sold as an accessory for stove. Maybe a weather protector of some sort?
Welcome Pierce Moss, your flag says Germany with Location Indiana. sweeet stove. If your box was found in Indiana (Amish country?), this may interest you
New member here, don't know how that flag got there. Stove & box were bought at an estate auction in southern Indiana. The way the box is built it's looking more like a heater accessory. Top raises, maybe to accommodate different stoves?
