I've been looking for a reasonably priced suitcase stove for a while. This cropped up on Ebay and I couldn't resist. Most suitcases on sale are newer models so this one stood out. It arrived in perfect working order, a quick check over and it fired right up. It's my first suitcase and I am extremely pleased with it. The Coleman oven arrived the same day from the states and is shown in action cooking a couple of small pizzas for the kids lunch today.
Congratulations SimonB Those stoves are workhorses and requires almost no maintenance even after years of storage except for the usual oiling of the leather pump cups and clearing out the residents inside the tube. Cheers Ron
Congratulations, Simon! I was not a Coleman fan when I joined this board but my appreciation of Coleman products has grown considerably. I now own 13 stoves and 4 lanterns from Coleman and they all work great. Enjoy!
Hi SimonB well done there on a brilliant score all coleman stoves and lanterns are highly reliable and are very ruggid and built to a high standard. I do prefer the older models as they were built realy well and the look and style of the older models were better
Hi Simon, The 421 is one of my favorites. I like the lower cut windshields, compared to the 425 series. Yours is a Canadian Coleman and with a new generator every decade, should last you a lifetime!
It has already put itself up there as one of my favourites too. I am surprised at the lack of weight, I thought it was going to be a very heavy thing but it isn't. Hopefully I can squeeze it and the oven in next camping trip! The only other Coleman I've had was a 533 I sold a few years ago as I didn't get on with it, I'm not a fan of the generator on those. This 421 has a generator you can completely dismantle for cleaning, and it is pretty much just a straight tube, very easy to clean. I like this stove very much indeed. Simon.
I just found a 421D in the recycle bin! I guess one of my neighbors couldn't fit it into their moving van. I looked on-line for instructions and it started right up. YIPPEE!
SimonB - looks good! What year was that made? PJSank - nice score! I got a 426F really cheap, but your 'free' 421d beats that
