Hello I found these two Primus burner. They are different from the Primus 4155 burner with its spindle in. On the right in the first picture and the left in the second picture. The control valve housing is on the other side. edit: looks like a Primus 4190 burner but they were jetted for alcohol. And had brass screen inside the tubes. Cheers, Jeff
Jeff, please don't think I'm being critical, as I'm blind in one eye and can't see with the other... the photos need to be clearer/lighter for ME to be able to compare the burners. Thank you for your repost... please. Jim
Sure thing Jim. I am cleaning the burners as I type. I will take a better picture. My mother is blind so I understand. Jeff
The Primus 4155 burner on the left. The unknown burner on the left. I believe it is 4190 but alcohol. I hope these pictures are better. Jeff
Jeff, great photos! I concur with you, the burner looks to be a 4190. I was previously thinking that it might have possibly been a 4135, but the design of this burner looks to be more modern than either the 4135 or 4155. Did either burners of this type have valve spindles, or cleaning needles when you received them? I tried researching the reference gallery for post 1954 Primus stoves such as the 527 or 535, but none of these had photos of their 4190 burners.
Hello Jim. Yes they had cleaning needles and spindles and jets. The cleaning needle came in at 0.50mm so for alcohol. I can't seem to find what stove these burners are for. Thanks Jeff
Perhaps someone had the know how to refit these burners with alcohol jets, cleaning needles, and air restrictors to use in a Primus 527 to cook aboard a boat, where alcohol is considered a safer fuel because an alcohol fire can be extinguished with water.
Jeff, the unknon burner seems to be shorter than the Primus burner by the looks of it. If I am correct, then the unknown may be for the 41 since I do have a standard silent burner and if I fit it on to the 41, the top outer cap is higher than the pot rests. Ron
I am thinking your right Jim. Or some boat stove I don't know of yet. One of the built in units that Primus built the burners and fuel tank for and someone else built the pot supports and case. ATB, Jeff
The burner on the left in the above two pictures is a Primus 4155 burner. Which came out of a Primus 41. The two burners are the same height. It is just the valve housing that is different. But I can't figure out why. There is no point I can see. The unknown burner could be used in a Primus 41 but with the valve housing on the other side the spindle will be offset. Cheers, Jeff
Jeff, I just ran into this post from Gary (BernieDawg) Link, which indicates that unlike the 4155, the cleaning needle in the 4190 is up when the valve is fully open. Jim
Thanks Jim, So the unknown burner would put its cleaning up with fully opened. With the spindle on the other side that is how it would work. Neat forgot about that. Cheers, Jeff
