I bought my first 550A it's a 1-88 and when I dumped the old fuel out a short tube came out of the fill tube. What's it for ??? I can't find much info on the 550A.It has pantent pending on the lable ... Are they different then the B model? Ernie
Interesting. Looks like the dip tube to keep you from over filling and maintaining air space. Does it look like a solder or glue joint may have failed on it? I'll measure to the bottom of a dip tube on one of mine and come back with a measurement for you. I seem to also remember a filler extension tube on one model that was suppose to make it easier to fill. Not sure on that though. The mind is getting foggy. Regardless, shouldn't affect function provided you don't over fill it. I highly recommend a thorough inspection and pressure test on it before operation. It doesn't appear to have been particularly well cared for. Mike
The tube has a ridge on the top and it bottoms out on the fill neck ridge as seen it the photo. The stove does appear to have been a guest at alot of cookouts .It looks rough but seems solid .I did a 5 min.light up with CF outside to check the generator it came with.Looks like I could use a kero gen. Did those brass casings come out of there as well? Your shop appear more dangerous than mine even. Spent brass, steel wool, car battery, and a Coleman stove all on the same bench. HA!
Dangerous !!!!!!!!! It's a good thing I cropped the photo so you couldn't see the rest of the bench... Ernie
