Hello, just acquired a new in box 111T. I notice, compared to my other one, a paint job not quite as nice and a steel windshield with spot welds rather than my original brass one-piece windshield. (Anyone know when this changed? I assume they were wasting material with the one piece and this is done to lower costs.) I have replaced the packing and the cap washer is in very good shape. I noticed that the spindle had been twisted to the closed position with some force so I replaced it with a spare. Then, looking on basecamp, I see there are three different spindles for the Optimus 8R, 111 and 111T, or C as they call it. The difference, I believe, is in the shape of the sharp end of the spindle, with my original 111 having a fairly blunt nose, and one I got in an 8R spares kit having a much sharper nose. The difference at that end has to have some difference with how the stove allows fuel to come out when the spindle is opened. Any comments on whether these are considered interchangeable, or if the different shapes are just due to manufacturing tolerances, or if there really is a significant difference between the three. I'm preaty sure that Most of the regulated Optimus stoves with built in cleenining needles (8R, 99, 111, 111T ect.) use the same spindle. But now I curious. Rick
I just had to look into this. For the most part I reach into the parts box, and pull out a spindle. From what I could find out. There was a spindle for the 123R, one for the 111 and 111B, and finaly one for the 111C probaly the 111T and the 207 burners. Funtionaly I think they will work in any burner. However maybe there is an overall lenth difference. And one important piont of the spindles for the 207 burners is the hole in end for the cotter key to hold the regulating knob. Quite important on the marrine stoves. Well thats enoulf prattle about that. Rick
