I am in need of a leather cup washer for my M-1942 military stove. The old girl was running perfectly and was my favorite camping stove. My boys tell me to go to Wal-Mart and buy a new stove but I say "NEVER!". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Dave send me a PM with your address and i'll send you one. It will take a couple of weeks before i get home but once there i can send it out. there should be one inside the pump storage area. or have you used it already?
Hi, I am new to this site and fascinated. I am interested in getting either a Coleman 520, Aladdin MOD 1942, or a M1950 stove to use for SHTF scenarios and for car camping. Of the three models, which is best regarding reliability, safety and overall performance? Thanks for your input. Where can I find information and tips on the various models? Is the MOD 1942 Aladdin a good and reliable stove? I have an Aladdin Blue Flame heater and I love it...a quality heater if there ever was one.
I have one of each. I suggest going for a new unissued M1950 from an army surplus place. They arent cheap but compare it to an MSR white gas stove with a spares kit and you will see its not much different in cost. You can get a fresh filler neck seal and pump valve seal from oldcolemanparts.com, the originals will probably be too hard and cracked to use. Your pump leather will need a bit of oil as well. https://picasaweb.google.com/114171463053197277461/USArmyM1950GasolineStove
Thanks for the input, David. Is there a particular maker of the 1950 model you prefer? I am hearing to stay with the Coleman or the Rogers stove. I thought about chucking the whole idea of getting one of these until I found out a lot of the new stoves are made in China and are of dismal quality. My old Green lantern always worked no matter what! Best, Alex
Hi Alex, Welcome to CCS! You'll get opinions all over the map on which to get. The later models(mostly SMP) are a bit rougher on finish, but IMHO they all run equally well. But those newer(1980s) ones will most likely have good, serviceable rubber and not require much if any work. I do find the Coleman and Rogers to be a bit more polished and solid. So a few seals and you're good to go regardless. I shy away from using the rubber spares in the tube and get fresh stuff. Mike
