Asaklitt Spirit stove from Clas Ohlson

    I got a Trangia clone Asaklitt spirit stove off the bairns for Xmas (£11.99 - 20% student discount) I have done a tea test and I can report that it works champion,

    I had previously bought a Tesco tiddly kettle so I used this to brew up with (need to make some brackets to support the kettle properly as it snuffs out the flame when it seals up the chimney)

    Just slip a couple steel tent stakes through the holes in the upper wind screen to support the pot.

    I'm reckoning that the ledmark & Asaklit stoves are the same .. But NOT a copy of the Optimus tor/ 91/ purple flame system.. close .. but no cigar .
    My thoughts , after having played with these for a while .. is that the supplied burner is a one trick pony ... good for boiling water (not particularly efficiently .. burns too hot/fast) .
    for a more efficient use add a simmer ring.
    The Trangia simmer ring , c/w the C.O burner is overly restrictive ... not enough flame on open setting 1325171046-PICT4127.JPG 1325171087-PICT4134.JPG

    However ....if you drill holes in the vertical wall of the Trangia simmer ring .. it opens up the performance of the restricted burner and provides a good range of control .. from a max which is far less than the standard (no simmer ring) inferno ..thru to a min of 90 min,or so, just ticking over/keep a cooked meal hot.
    The Tatonka stainless steel simmer ring may be just the thing .. it has holes pre drilled .
    Asaklitt is a good price .. on a budget its a no brainer .. add some controlability (modded simmer ring) and ive forgotten where ive stored my Trangia :-).. The Trangias got left on the shelf when i discovered meta 50's... with the same mods on a standard Trangia burner , these are my 'go to' metho stove of choice for cooking .. for water heating on metho .. use a caldera cone system .
    Asaklitt = strange name but good value product .

    Nick ...Who has burned far far to much meths spirit this festive season ... ho ho ho

    Bargin! :thumbup: Ditch original burner, insert T burner and simmer ring that does for a perfectly good outdoors rig. :thumbup:

    Take off lower burner mounting and place upside down with the burner on the ground underneath, should work for most kettles, works ok for my coffee perk. :mrgreen:

    The Age Of Meths is coming again...
