Hey Flivver what was that place by the ocean where we last had the CASG? That would be good

Hi Ron: That was Montana De-Oro. Mrs. Flivver and I did not care for it at all, and do not wish to go back any time soon. Mike...

    Hey, Guys,

Well..... it's "next year" already!! So, who's up for a Gathering sometime soon??!! I was thinking that we could do it before deep Winter hits, but we may have already missed our opportunity. However, it's still 84°F down the mountain, and great weather for camping. Up higher, around Big Bear, it's going to be cold and snowy, which would be OK for us, but not for some others. So, let's kick the ball around, and see what we can create. I can check our schedule and see when we might be able to do another Gathering. I will be happy to set a date, and maybe even find a place that would work. Then, whomever wishes to join-in may do so. As far as picking campsites, and taking care of group logistics, I think this time around we should let each of us deal with that individually. What say you all? Talk to you soon, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

P.S. Sweet Bride and I are looking for some down-time during which we can just enjoy camping with friends. As far as seminars and other such thing, I'm going to leave that to others this time.

Hi Doc, I would say it would be dependent upon the distance at which the farthest member would be traveling hence equidistant (I cant believe I said that) to the camping grounds more or less. And yes, each member should do their or arrangements/logistics to and fro. I cant talk about camp grounds since I am really unfamiliar except for the ones we did go to.

    Greetings, Guys,

I know that the Flivver Family does not like the Montana De Oro Campground, though Sweet Bride and I think it's really a nice one, and in a wonderful location. But, as Mike and family have made tons of effort to attend the CASG events, it would be great to have them be there for any future events, too. I've checked with SB, and after scoping out our work schedule, we have a little bit of time into which we might be able to plan a Gathering. So, here are a few thoughts:

    - Depending on the weather, and location of a camp, we "could" actually attend an event in ARIZONA, or at the Mid-Hills Campground (site of CASG#3, the infamous snow, ice, high winds, and freezing temperature camp!!) at the end of this month! We have plans which would take us to AZ for part of that time, and could work in a camp out over there, or at the Mid-Hills site, if there is interest, and we would incorporate our Stove Gathering with our work gig. The dates would have to be something like January 26-29, for it to fit into our work schedule.

    - We also might be able to squeeze in a Gathering during the second, or third week of February, if that would work for everyone.

    - We also have a few weeks in July that might be available for a Gathering, unless the business throws us a curve ball, which can and does happen, now and then.

Anyway, some thoughts and dates to consider, Mates. Let me know if any of this sounds good to you, and we can see about making a firm plan. Sweet Bride and I ARE going to be doing more camping this coming year, when and where we can fit it into our work schedule. So, let's plan another CASG, or our first ASG! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

Hi Doc: The Flivver's are ready. Your schedule is the tightest, so we will try to go with the time and place of your choosing. Mike..

    Greetings, All,

OK, Folks. How's about planning a get together for CASG#5 in February? As things go, the only dates we now have available are February 16, 17, 18, 19. That would make #5 a four day event, and we're considering camping at the infamous Mid-Hills campground, down in the Mojave Preserve, once again! It's fairly central to many CCS Folk, and not too far a drive for others. Also, as things are SUPPOSED to happen, we should have balmy and lovely days, and clear, chilly nights. Of course, we found out for CASG#3, "stuff" does happen, and in that same location, at a similar time, we had super high winds, rain, sleet, snow, and ice, along with a good bit of mud!!  Still, Sweet Bride and I had a good time, and were very proud of all others that attended, as the complaining was non-existent, and everyone seemed to make the best of that unexpected situation.

So, what say you, Folks? CASG#5 at the Mid-Hills Campground, Thursday through Sunday, February 16-19? Who's interested, available, and up for it?! Talk to you soon, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc and Sweet Bride

P.S. Just in case you need a little reminder about how the weather had "interesting" plans for us last time we camped at Mid-Hills at this time of the year, here are a few photos of CASG#3! ;)   8)

NOTE: As weather sometimes has it's own ideas about what it needs to do, no matter WHERE you decide to camp, those interested in joining us at Mid-Hills in February should bring warm clothes, layers, a good tent, and other such goodies that will allow us to have a good time, no matter what happens with the weather! ;) 8) :D/ :D/

Hi all/Doc: Count the Flivver family in. As for the cold weather we had last time even the rangers were amazed and said it was a fluke. Anything can happen with mother nature. Weather "should" be clear with daytime temps in the 70's "F". Mike...

    Happy Sunday, Friends,

Hummmm.... The Flivver Family, and us seem to be the only takers, so far, for a CASG next month. not a good time for everyone else? No interest? Too far? Too sharp a memory of our last camp at Mid-Hills?? Truth be told, this time of your is usually the best for desert camping, so here's hoping it will turn out better than last time, weather-wise. In any case, for our CA, OR, and AZ members, or any other CCS members that might like to join us, post a note here, so we can gauge interest. Even if only the Flivvers and us attend, we'll still have a good time, but it would be fun to have a few others join in, too, as always! Looking forward to hearing from the rest of you, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Greetings, All,

Thanks, Ron, for that update, and I hope you can join us at Mid-Hills. I contacted Mac (Arch), and he is up for it. He will try hard to be there, and hopes his lovely Bride can join us, as well.

It's beginning to shape up, Folks! Cool!! Let's hear from all others that have interest in this little event. Thanks, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

Sounds like a great time to be had however, for the distance, cost et al, I won't be able to attend.
Waiting for the next one up this way and next time I'll be there for more than a day and a half.
I'll be keeping a keen eye on this thread. ;)

    Hey, Russ,

Great to hear from you. "Distance" is always going to be sticking point for most folks. Both Sweet Bride and I would dearly love to get back up to Oregon, should BernieDawg wish to hold another OSG up that way, and Diamond Lake was a great place to do it. But, the drive up and back to Oregon this past September was over 1,600 miles, and that's a fair chunk of change for gas, food, hotel each way, and other things! Most CCS members would not drive that far, or at least out here, they won't.

Back East, where distances are not quite so far, and States are far more compressed and close to each other, lots of members get involved in the Stove Gatherings. But, in the years Sweet Bride and I have been hosting the CASG events, #5 of which is coming up next month(!), we've seen that it's a rare person, or couple, who will take the bull by the horns, and make a long drive to attend a Stove Gathering. In fact, for many of our Gatherings, we've had members who lived less than 30-100 miles, and STILL said it was too far to come and join us!!    ](*,) ](*,)

One thing to keep in mind, is that none of us will ever be able to attend a Gathering that is setup on our own property, and whilst SB and I have tried to accommodate all of our members who usually attend the CASG events, we all have to drive at some time, and that's just the fair way to do it. I know.... this is beating a dead horse as we've covered this ground before. But, as I'm also mentioned before, if you want a Stove Gathering near where you live, set it up, and post that info here, and see who will make the effort to join in. You have quite a few folks up your way, and I'd lay money that you might be surprised at how many would show up to have some stove fun!! Hey, you might well have more attendees than we get down our way, and we've had some pretty full events since we began this!! go for it, and see what happens!!

Hopefully, we will see you again at some future Gathering, be it up your way, or down ours. Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

I plan 50%++ to attend barring business issues and short notice.

Assuming I do attend I will bring my beeg twin element Pauling PROPANE!!!yikes, heater, so cold should not be an issue.

I so want to come, but I am currently unemployed. :( It's hard for me to predict the road ahead. Gad.

Please tentatively put me down, but if I were to find work, work would have to take precedence.
