My favorite, and oldest, camp stove is the Svea 123 (w Sigg cook kit) which I bought in early 70's. I married a man who bought all of his things at the same shop around same time. Eventually he robbed parts from one of the Svea's to fix the other, and he ended up needing a repair kit. We are unfortunately divorcing, and he has the working Svea 123. Husband thinks the repair kit for the Svea 123r will work (and thinks we might have 123r stoves....I don't think so, and can't find one in the junk room to look). I do know that both stoves were self cleaning. Will the repair kit for the 123r work even if the stove is a 123?
Welcome allypurp. Sorry to hear what you are going through but lets concentrate on the stove. If you say the stove is self-cleaning meaning a needle sticks out of the jet when you turn it all the way to the left, then its a 123R. The 123 does not have a cleaning needle. Now it depends on what was taken from the donor stove and since we do not know that, the best way is to post a picture of the stove you want to bring to life. From there, stovie members can give you more information whether the "kit" will work. Ron
If I where you I would wait until he was out, then assemble both stoves and their associated parts... take all the good bits for yourself and leave him with the not so good. Its still a fifty fifty split only your fifty percent works. Too Harsh you think ????
On reflection my last comment was a bit mercenary..maybe it was reading you having a Sigg cook kit to go with your stove Maybe, if you have had the stove for sometime, it may just need a complete strip down and a deep clean. A good "Luv' up" as we say .
I replied too fast, and didn't think. I didn't mean the stove is bad, but that there are a lot more of those stoves for sale than the Sigg cook kits. I'm looking for a good price on a Sigg Kit. Ken
Ken ....no need to explain, I knew what you meant.... how could anyone knock the 123 and 123r I too have been searching for the Sigg kit. had to buy myself a few Primus 71E sets to compensate ...Nice but just not the same.
Hi, You said that both 123's are self cleaning - this means both are 123R. Your repair kit for the 123R is OK for either stove. Anyway, you can always obtain the few parts needed to repair a 123R, even if you don't "inherit" the repair kit. A SVEA 123 is virtually indestructible. Yonadav
i was going to say name the ccs member but you should be able to fix your stove with commonly available parts looking on this site its a bit tricky sometimes but you can spares except 4 the is 57
