Flame ring restoration

I have read many of the posts on reforming flame rings and so I have been on the lookout for rounded tapered chair legs, cast off anvils etc.
While emptying stuff out of my utility trailer, I noticed the box containing my removable hitch balls.

With a scrap of wood, a dead blow hammer and the 1 7/8 inch ball I was able to reasonable job of straightening out a bent up flame ring from an Optimus 00.

I need to reshape my unique Campingo flame rings. Thanks for jogging my memory on trying a hitch ball.

I've also had luck using a rubber handled screw driver and the cushioned end of my framing hammer since I don't have a rubber mallet.
