Hi Mta veryn nice 1205 coil burner stove preheater, and working superbly with a brilliant blue hot flame.
It is realy nice seeing these as we dont often see these.
I would imagine when these were used tpo preheat a stove it would work realy well and get a stove primmed in ni time

They do work good, and they must have been a great improvement if you often light your stove. Mind you, this is probably mainly a household gizmo.
I imagine that the household stove and torch stood just next to eachother for the housewife to make an easy start of the stove.

It would seem that there's not much effort in filling the meths cup with spirit, light it and wait for the process to be finished.
But it is actually much easier and faster to just grab your 1205, hold a match under the coil for the few seconds it takes to get it going, and then hook it under the burner. That will go just as fast, or even faster, than to take the meths bottle, fill the spirit cup and light it. And above all; it's much more convenient.
And then the preheating time itself is much faster with the torch, of course!
When lighting a large blow lamp with a cylindrical 801 (the non-stove version of this torch), it only takes about a third of the time to get it going compared to the spirit preheating.
