Hey folks, I found this little beauty at a yard sale last month and it cleaned up real nice and works great! The best news is I only paid $5!!! It's not a SIGG tourist kit, but it is complete! Enjoy, Art
"Not a Sigg" I have one too, and it's works just fine. My Sigg is now a hybrid set with SS Sigg pans. You found one of the "Grail" deals IMHO!! A Taiwan tourist set with a 123 for a fiver!!!
Thanks for the comments! This was actually part of a package deal of 3 camping related items for $15. (I’ll post pictures of the other 2 in another post after I take pictures) When I got to the yard sale, I told the owner that I was looking for camping gear for my sons Cub Scout pack and he pointed out a few things he had for sale. At first I thought the tourist kit was just another aluminum cook set but when I picked it up, I knew what was inside. I couldn’t believe the deal I getting! This was one of those deals everyone dreams about! All I had was a $20 bill, so I handed it to him, told him thanks and to keep the change. He was happy and I’m still smiling! I found out after the deal was made that he was a retired school teacher, an Eagle Scout and he told me that he knew the items would be put to good use. There are still some great people out there! Nice to still hear good stories like this. He most likely knew the value was a bit more in his eyes but knew it was going to a good home or good cause. Scouting teaches us these values which stay with the individual for life. Nice to know there are good people out there unlike those trying to sell a svea123 by itself for a 150.00 dollars on evilbay.
Art, are you of Irish descent? You've certainly had some of their luck on this occasion. If a Cub pack gets to use this I'll call the Feds off! Are we expecting the other $ 10 of this investment to be equally (quite frankly) astounding value? Sometimes ya just gets the breaks. One of our Scout troop's Tilley lamps was just sat on the top of the pile at a local refuse tip when I happened to visit one weekend a while back. Best regards John
You lucky stiff -- even if it isn't a Sigg. Nice find and thanks for the encouragement to keep at it. HJ
