I bought a Turm sport a while back and started to fettle it. It was in a bad shape but had a nice flame even with my bad spirits (low quality that leaves a lot of sooth). The paint was coming of and there was quite a lot of rust. As can be seen the wick was in pretty bad shape. The brass work was cleaned and polished and the wick renewed. I changed the rubber seals also, the one close to the wick will be replaced with one made of graphite or something else that withstands the heat. The case was dumped in a salt bath and electrolysed until the paint came off. The paint is a standard Swedish engine color called Penta green, used for Penta engines. New flame shots might be added when the sun doesn't shine..... Can't get the pics in gallery, wierd! /Lars
After some time in the shed, I pulled out my frog Turm. I read a post recently about using lead for the washer at the wick. I banged some lead flat and cut a piece to fit an tightened the bolt.. Now I do not have a flame coming out from the end of the tube with the wick. Still some problems burning on full throttle, probably due to bad fuel. After test fire the stove goes back to storage. I will make some coffe on it sometime but with all the other stoves this will be a shelf queen (or rather a shelf frog).
