    Russ,
Is there still any intrest in a nor-cal/so-ore meet? I had planned to go to the Eastern Sierra above Mono Lake last summer but external factors....well you know how it is.
I may have a small window to venture to the same area or in above Tom's Place this mid to late July. I have very little wiggle room for vacations and must plan around my military duty, though two weeks are a sure thing.

I'm thinking the east side is too far for most. I can make a Redding area or over close to the coast trip. I've been to Bodega Bay, Samuel Taylor State Park and Pt. Reyes the last 3 years with the bunch I backpack some with. Samuel Taylor has a group camping area, nice there, not much traffic on the highway close by. Could also come up to my area around Lake Almanor or even closer, Bucks Lake, a group campground there too, close to the lake. I live under 30 minutes from that cg. I usually take a backpacking vacation late July or early August but am thinking of going to Colorado this year.

How's about Samuel P Taylor State Park over close to the coast? They do have a group camp area. Up here in my neck of the woods is too far for many, maybe someplace along the coast would be cool this summer. For me distance wise, the valley would be better, but it will be getting hot there soon, the coast is gonna be 5 hour drive at least for me.

I realize that the No.Cal/Oregon meet has already passed, assuming it did happen but per chance is there going to be another one soon or perhaps in 2013?

I'm trying to go camping in Lassen Vol NP after Labor Day, I may get a friend to ride up there also on our motorcycles. Us NorCal folks are content with our locations. Mean while, I'll be headed out for over a month straight of either camping or backpacking, no end in site yet, just need to determine where to go. Maybe after the heat passes, something can get set up for us all.

Lava Beds is quite familiar. Skull reminds me of some type of 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' thing. Amazing. Valentine is also a great one especially if you have an instrument or the like. Aswesome accoustics.

    Crater Lake is awesome!
But, call before you go, a lot of the roads close for the winter.

Mid Sept. I may have to bring my backpack. I need to start some research on cg's etc. so I have an idea of where I may be able to stay if anything is open. Hate to have to pay for a motel.

Don't forget the Oregon County parks, lots of small parks, many with small campgrounds.

I have a 'hankerin' to get out to the desert.
Tentative plans as of now, taking Columbus Day week off(if my boss doesn't go in for knee surgery before that [-o< ) and heading over to Lava Beds for a couple of days.
After that my travel palate feels a need to hit Lake County Oregon. Specifically Lake Abert but this time in a car and not the Land Cruiser.
Taking a minimal amount of gear but a trunk full of excitement and anticipation.
