I have been tinkering with my 8R (because it's what I do) and took the burner apart (because it's what I do). I can't seem to find the balance-point between where the needle is effective, and the valve can fully seat in the closed position. Is there a common process for replacing the needle and getting the valve fully seated? Newby question, I know... Neighbor Al
Hi Al they have to be set to about 3 or 4 clicks. With the regulator key/knob turned fully to the closed position, place the needle on to the cogs and slighty push down on the needle i use a pencil with a eraser on the end,and slightly turn the key to the open position to you hear it click down on 3 or 4 cogs, sometimes 5 is needed. If you look in the instructions gallery there is instructions on this prcedure
Hi Al. Welcome to the forum. It seems to vary between stoves and needles. Even the Optimus instructions say 4-5 clicks Link . See also BernieDawg's excellent video here Link (needle setting is from 16.40). Different stove but the principle is the same. Regards, Terry
Your welcome Al and my appologies i forgot to welcome you to CCS. And it would be good to see some pics of your 8r in action
