Just got hold of an unfired Svea No 153 in the original packaging! It also contained the original brush and cleansing needles.

    Hello roat.
What a nice score you have there.
It would be nice to see it going but I would put it away as it is.
Although we do know the temptation to light it up and to enjoy using it. :D

That is not a brush you have in picture #3, it is an auto lighter that clips onto the burner and the wider end sits in the preheating dish itself. When you fill the dish with meths to preheat the burner, the asbestos end(dangerous on your skin and if particles are inhaled) will soak up some meths allowing the auto lighter to burn at its tip after the meths has burnt out in the dish. You can then seal your fuel tank and begin to pump to get the burner operating before that flame burns out. It is a better way to ignite a silent burner and will prevent under-burning under the burner caps. John

Well, you can fire it and not fire it at the same time, as long as nobody looks.

It's not easy to leave it as it is, but I hope that I find the strenght to do so... [-o<

    Hi roat

Here is an excellent Youtube video showing how to use the auto-lighter.

I have a mint Svea 158, which is nearly the same as your 153 except the tank is the other way round and it is in a military case. Will I light it? - NO WAY!
