Hi all, my name's Harold and I live in the Atlanta, Ga area. I'm an avid Coleman collector and have a bunch of Coleman and other stoves and lanterns made in America. At a recent Coleman gathering I got my first Euro stove...and Optimus No. 1...this is a completely new beast to me...and it's quite lovely. Through some research and advice from the Coleman forum I was directed to this site. I've already contacted a forum member here to get a NRV removal tool for the stove...it's acting a bit dodgy. And I ordered a spare part kit for it on Ebay that includes a jet removal tool...another part of the stove that isn't quite up to par. I'm sure I'll be asking a ton of questions about this stove. Anyway...here are a few pics of it. I don't believe the top grate is original as it says SVEA on it, but it looks nice and it fits well. Anyone have any idea when this one was made? I believe it's also missing a little shield that goes around the top part of the burner and sits in that little ring, I have one of those ordered, too.

Most of my Colemans are gas...but I have a few that are kero and I converted three 242Cs to kero. I also just got my first Aida...it's a 1500 Record...man that thing is bright!I have a particular fondess for Prentiss Wabers (Preway stuff) and have several of their lanterns and stoves.
Greetings, Harold, Welcome to CCS, and hearty congrats on getting such a nice old Optimus stove! I'd guess that your stove dates to the 1920's, or thereabouts. The bun feet, burner style, and a few other things about your stove, point in that direction. Give a squint to the early Optimus catalogs, in the Reference section, and you should find your stove in a very short time. Good score on getting it, and thanks for sharing it here. Wow thats a great find. Bun foot, collared pot supports 20s # 1 are very desirable.Take a look through the Optimus catalogs : https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/83 If I had to guess I would say you have a mid 20s stove that maybe was given a fuel cap from one from late 20s. Or it was a transition year where they used the new cap and the older wingnut. Looks like you have original collared pot supports and that's a real plus. Here is one I was lucky enough to find. Notice the little steel rings on the pot supports where they enter the brass holders. Maybe I should start going to Coleman meets.
OK...I bought a little repair kit for Primus/Optimus type stoves on Ebay. It arrived from the UK yesterday. That little jet removal tool works great. So I put a new jet on, replaced some of the worn gaskets and tonight I fired her up. What a great looking flame on this thing!

Greetings Harold I am a member here and CCF. Both sites are fantastic and a good bunch of guys to boot. Seems like you started out with Coleman's and ended up here. I went the other direction. Love anything that produces white light or a nice blue flame. Glad to have you aboard. Dave
