Some pictures of my No 50 pre-heater.

As you can see the pre-heater burns with a clear blue flame. I run it on Aspen 4T.
I borrowed another 50 for comparing, and as seen in the pictures mine has the steel plate under the burner coil. This is marked "NORSK PATENT NR. 58973". The filler caps are also a little different, but the threads are the same.
Anyone able to date the heater?

The Høvik Verk Standard No 50 mounted on my nickel HV No 41. They fit better on stoves with a longer riser tube, like for example the Høvik No 37 or Primus No 5.

Hi roat i think these pre heaters are probebly from the 1930's, possibly up too the 1950's around that period.

They have a some what art deco design to them, which indicates to me the 1930's,i rearly like these pre heaters, they are rather sought after and quite rare.

What i find a little commical about them, is they them selfs have to be pre heated them selfs, even though only for a few seconds, you have to pre heat the pre heater lol

Really like them too, so simple and easy to use yet powerful and practical! And yes Brian, pre-heat the pre-heater..! Funny thing!
Any similar pre-heaters from British or other foreign brands?

This sort of reminds me of the very large Lima Dragline i was attached to for a while. The oiler, or operating engineer would pull start a little engine, like a go-kart engine, and it would crank and start a 50 HP engine. When it was warm they would couple in the Crane engine and after a number of rotations it would cough and belch a bit of black smoke and then purr like a kitten. piper
