I have had this stove running sometime ago, but decided to give the tank a clean. Found several pinholes, which I have soldered today, and shoved some POR15 inside, just to be on the safe side. I have done a Google of the name Goldberg Bros that is on the name plate on the case. They are not the same company as the film-makers are they ?
Yonadav Once the POR 15 has gone off friend, then you will get your flame shots. It takes about 72 hours for the stuff to go off, in a closed environment. A couple of hours in the open air. Good stuff.
WOW! Made in my home town 34 years before me. I wonder how it got over there!? From the bay? Great stove! Oh WOW again- Still in business!
Yondav My impatience got the better of me. Couldn't wait 72 hours, had it sat in front of the log burner, drying the POR 15 out.
Ian Your Sure Fire stove is a sure-fire hit with me. I love the pretty patterns formed by the burner holes when lit. I am usually not a great fan of US suitcase stoves but this one has some great character.
That is a very nice flame pattern, different to the norm. With the generator going over the flame not too much wasted heat used in keeping a burner bell or basket up to vapourising temperature. Cheers, Graham.
Can a mod shift this to the SRG, under the heading : Goldberg Bros Sure-Fire No 0 I have got some more pictures to go on. Can you put them in line as well, to reduce scrolling. No point in having two topics open on the same subject. Not into number crunching. Thanks Ian
That's running pretty good. I have a Prentiss Wabers I need to fix the holes in too. Maybe this winter. Duane
reviving this thread. This stove came to me from a fellow CCF member. I haven't seen the innards yet, I pick up the stove tomorrow, but the burner caps look similar as does the embossing on the grates. For some reason I can't post pictures. Tomorrow I pick up a stove the Wizard, it was posted here by member Don Burchel a while back, he kindly offered it to me. Whats interesting it has the same? GB embossed into the cast grates. I will update tomorrow probably in a new topic Jan
hoping to get a response to this thread. Here is the Wizard stove, pretty sure its the same Manufacturer and the icing on the cake, original instructions
Greetings, Ian, and also scouterjan, Wonderful stoves, the both of yours, and so happy to see you posted them here in the SRG for everyone to enjoy!!! Look like the Dog's B's, to me, and quite well made!! Ian, yours is running great, and I'll bet that scouterjan's double-burner will do just as well, when it's fettled. Rare, and very interesting, these stoves look great, and it's nice to see such robust and workable designs in stoves about which I've never heard before!! Thanks, again, Gentlemen, for sharing them here, and congrats on getting such neat old stoves!! Take care, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
