    Perhaps try switching the caps?

I'm learning that they can be particularly finicky...

Edit* - The inner and outer burner caps.

Some moderate success. Per Pinky's suggestion, I switched caps and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a marked reduction in the yellow flames while simmering. So, I fiddled some more. In particular, I snugged up the bad simmering stove's stuffing box just a bit and the stove now runs much better at a simmer. Still not the exquisite blue as in BernieDawg's video but it definietly no longer produces the pot- sooting yellow flames I switched the caps back and the stove runs just as well. So, things are getting better. I truly appreciate everyone's suggestions. Still have not fiddled with the cleaning needle per DocMark but with snow predicted for the weekend, I can spend time out in the garage without too many questions asked about what I'm doing out there. Since my rather meager work bench is right next to our recycle bin, I find myself seaching through it now for cans to fashion into a windscreen per Rik's suggestion. Have yet to find the right size can. Perhaps I'll pull the windscreen I have and take it with me to my local liquor store and search for a brew with a can sized right to fashion into a windscreen. I suspect with at least 6 such "templates" to work through I can't go wrong. To my fellow Minnesota stovies: pray for snow. PWW

I've seen this where there is a leak in the burner that is adding fuel making it too rich.

Play a flame around and see if you can ignite this stream. Often they self ignite but I have seen a leaking jet for instance not self ignite but leak enough for a yellow flame.

It may be a pinhole in a burner tube, or a crack in the burner - I've seen them above and below.

Finding a crack in the burner, especially in the top, may be easier cold. Empty tank, pump up and block the jet with a finger while dosing with soapy water.

Those caps are black magic PWW!
Glad you had a bit of success!
Sounds like you're on the way to a proper fettle.

Berniedawg has been walking me through getting a clean burn on a temperamental 111C and a big honkin' Hipolito 36 lately.

Feel free to drop him a line, and if you think it's getting a bit over your head, you can always ship the burner to Gary (BD), and for the price of a pint of beer and return shipping, he'll use his Jedi powers on it and get it up to snuff for you, likely with a side of stovie wisdom. Hard to beat that deal! Here is his website if you would like to get in touch with him.

    Keep us posted!
