Ho Hum, not my best buy then!! We are looking for some form of double burner paraffin run stove, have you suggestions as to what would be out there as the 22's are the only ones I have come across that might be a bit less hens tooth like! Interestingly, i have had a few emails making me offers, but only for single burner stoves. Thanks Tim
I've got a nice British Army No.3 double burner I'd have let you have in exchange for the 22 - but it's petrol also, unfortunately...
Allowing that portability is not a top concern, the best two burner Kero stove I can think of is a pair of primus No. 1 or similar - ideally fixed leg two pint. Pelam Base Camp Flog the 22B and buy a couple of these - if you want I'll offer a straight swap - but you may do better on Ebay.
2 X 111 paraffin stoves, adjustability, portability, versatility !!! (they can be had ex Norwegian army in v. good nic) Spudz
One 22 is better than 2 x 111s from a cooking point of view. The burners are further from the tank than a 111's burners are thus allowing larger pans to be comfortably accomodated without them overhanging the tank. I've tried it both ways and would take the 22 as first choice every time.
But the 22 is only about 15" wide? So you could not really fit pans that are any bigger than you could on 2 111's
The beauty of the 22 & similar size stoves is that you get a lot of control when cooking for large numbers. By placing a double dixie (a 3 gallon saucepan) across it, you can use one burner on its own set low to simmer, or nuke the thing with both burners open wide. Particularly useful for boiling vast amounts of water for washing/tea/ washing up or permutaions therein! Finally, bearing in mind we have teenagers involved here, when it goes silent they know they have a problem! Have taken the good advice and posted on the swap page - lets see what people can come up with! Kind regards Tim
