I have a 123R in an Optimus cookset. I don't use it as often as I used to. Is it best to store it with fuel in it or empty? I usually use Coleman fuel.

empty if you're storing it more than a year or so.

I have had a 123 in a Sigg Tourist cooker for many years, I just set it on a shelf. It sat for ten years while life interfered and my kids were getting old enough to be interested in camping and hiking. When I took it down and fired it up, it lit and ran perfectly. In my opinion storage, whether dry or full, is not a problem.

If you feel a bit twitchy about leaving fuel in it, by all means just empty it out and store it with the fill cap off.

Also Coleman Fuel, AKA white gasoline, naptha, Blazo, camp fuel, is the only proper fuel to run in a 123.

I fired up a Coleman two burner that sat in a barn for 17 years. 17 year old fuel. I don't worry about aged white gas anymore.
