    Hi All

Haven't posted for a long time but still check in every now and again for a look.

I just thought I would show you what I found in a second-hand shop on the weekend, As you can see a Svea 123, with box and instructions and engraved windshield, These are a bit harder to find. The 123R seems to be about more.

So, guess the price........go on...........Well I couldn't believe my eyes and took it to the counter thinking it was mispriced and the lady said, You know, I should probably put $18 on this as I saw a chrome one of these sell at an auction last week for that (Chrome?? Wonder what that was??), she said, but since this one has been in my shop for over a year, I figured I'd better leave it as it is, even though the brass value would be more than that.......ok ok it was $8?? True story.

So what would a chrome 123 be?? Electro plated?? Something else??? And could someone please take a shot and guess the age of mine. Thanks chaps.

If she had put the price up to $18 I bet you would still have bought it. The only question is how you got the writing on your stickers to match hers.

    Yes, we are jealous.

I've got a Primus 71 with box in a similar state. Came off trademe for about 3 times your price. Still a fifth of what most without boxes get listed for.

Hi Geeves, I also have a 71 in similar condition, but the 71 is a little better. Hasn't been used much at all. I got this a few years ago.

And yes, if that 123 was $18 I still would have got it. I haven't fired it yet, Someday I will. Life's a bit busy at the moment, trying to finish aew house, two-year old daughter etc., Life's good, hard work but good.

Cazna, The SVEA sticker on the box on the bottom left hand corner I think has the date at least of when the sticker was made.

Beautiful find there you have. Also great that its a 123 not 123R. The box with those labels make it a jewel of a find and are icing on the cake. How I wish to find a potstand windscreen with the engraving on it.

Just got me my early birthday gift from my mentor father figure who found only 1 windscreen for the two 123R stove we bought a year ago without screens to them. It came from Optimus online shop. I was sad to hear they only had the one we got. Must be a shortage of the windscreens these days. Going to take it out for lunch tomorrow in the woods and give it a go. Going to try to post photos of it here in the outdoors.

Those numbers you pointed out, Big BTU, are these (51155, IV, 52,) So what's that mean? Is the 52 1952?

If I see another pot stand with engraving on it, Viscara, it's got your name on it.

    The numbers:
There was a lot of research, and since I asked about one, not as old, I got some answers here...
Link and the full thread here ... Link

Could that be 1952? But, the key suggest later, A3 or A4, if I read this post right.

I can't say yes or no.
But I ask about the key. It looks like A3 or A4. And I thought it started in 1955, so 1952 is new to me.
I am sure there are others that can join in that know more than I do, I just like the stove.
