Optimus 111 Fuel Types

I have a Optimus 111 and wonder what type of fuel will it burn?

Are there special jet orifices used for each fuel?

111, 111B, 111T, 111C/D (I think thats all of them)
I have 3 different ones, that burn different fuels.

If it's an Antarctica it burns white gas and kerosene, according to this manual (p. 163), which is an interesting stove review.

 

I didn't mean what stove it was, I am not the OP.
I added Antarctica to the list or 111 stoves.

111- Original, kero/paraffin roarer.

111B- Gasoline/Petrol roarer version, mostly for the USA.

111T- An earlier multi-fuel silent version, the BEST one yet, IMHO.


111C- latest silent version with cast burner, Multi-Fuel, burner subject to cracking.

The roarers are...noisy, but better in wind...

The silents are, well, quiet, but not so good in wind...

 

mtkovacs, do you have some photos? Look for a PM we are nearly neighbors.

 

I must shamefully admit that I have not used my 111 that much so I have tested it out, but I do think it will run on petrol as well.

My 111T runs on alcohol "with an A-jet", on kerosene and petrol.

Now I am not quite sure about that either, is there any difference between gasoline and petrol? If so I ment gasoline.

 

Kristian, the American gasoline (or in short, gas) is the same as the UK petrol, and essence in France (bensin, benzin, benzine in other EU countries), it is what is used in cars with sparkplug ignition. It can be confusing at times! Kerosine (US), paraffin (UK) and pétrole (France) are also the same (petroleum in Belgium btw ).

Its labeled as a 111 only. Familiar with 111B model.

 

I can post photos during the weekend. I have two 111's and will post photos of both for additional information from the forum users. Thank you for the feedback so far!

 

Standard 111 is kerosene, and primed with alcohol.
Not rubbing alky, which is only 70% pure, but the $$$ stuff from the paint section at the hardware store...

 

If you're lucky, ask or request, rubbing alcohol or drug store alcohol comes in two strengths: 70% and 91%, although the stronger stuff is rarer. The 91% is OK as a priming fuel, but the yellow bottle HEET gas line de-icer is better.

i feel so fortunate to have scored a 111 and 111T when TSG liquidated some swedish military surplus... (actually got two 111s, but traded one away to a fellow CCS member)

i think i got the best of the breed... even though the 111T does multifuels and is silent, my preference is for the 111 - it's one of the best single-burner stoves i've ever used...

oh, and on topic: i only use kerosene in my 111 and 111T

2 tubes to the burner head is a 111B White Gas only, and 4 tubes to burner head is 111 Kerosene only? My photo file sizes are too large for upload.

 

111's breed. i got 1 and 2 others found me in less than 2 weeks.
111B, 111T, then a 111.

The 111 runs well on gasoline as well. Recently tested mine out.
