Please allow me to begin with apologies to those who say, "Don't Paint" because this project I was dealt a rather Bad Hand. I received from overseas so sending back was not an option. Quite frankly I was surprised I even got the stove. The box smelled like diesel and was literally dripping when it arrived.

So I went to work and did the unspeakable. Here goes.

As you see, I did a lot of work. It was fun and I think I really Like it. Now if I can just determine what I have. The Burner Control Knob isn't what I expected but I suppose they just put together what they had over there where I bought it. Anyway, I will look for the correct knob and look for another to play with. Thank you for looking.

Nice make over, yes sometimes it is called for, goodness me, fancy having someone thinking you abuse your good stuff like that.

It amazes me that people will post items full of fuel, let alone the postal services accepting them.
What country was it posted from?

    Love the racey red finish

I got it from a seller of Military Surplus in Germany. The seller had 14 for sale. Guess my German typing wasn't that great. i asked him to pull a good one for me. Maybe the translation said, "send me one burned up instead of the intended send me one that works well!" Have to laugh now, but let's say I was Fired up :rage: when I got it! Live and learn.

First off let me say Nice Rebuild. I like the color. What you have is a 60's to mid 70's Optimus 111T, triple fuel. As for condition, it has all the parts, so not bad. Packing could be better. But for 30+ year old stove, not bad. Suggestion, to protect the paint under the burner, add some alu. foil or rolled out beer can.
The knob is correct for that stove. Earlier ones had different colors, later ones different style.
The only pieces that mite be missing are the air restrictors for alcohol, and or Colemans fuel. But kero's safer anyway. As long as you didn't have to give your first born for it, should be happy. I see many a hot meal away from home coming from that stove. :) :) :)

    Hi,
Sending of stoves through the mails can be a serious issue, especially when they are sent overseas via an air mail service, this contravenes aviation safety regulations, the likely outcome is for the errant package to be diverted to a surface carrier, ebay buyers & sellers take note!. :!: :!:

I have sent a few stoves overseas & even though I dry out the tank & state 'No Fuel' in the declaration, it still doesn't guarantee transit by air, even though the service has been bought & paid for, resulting in an irate buyer & possible paypal chargeback, believe me, I've had this happen!. :rage:

    Mr Red 111T, please take a bow,=John.

Really a very good job
I like the color selection, Red Hot.
What kind of paint is it? Is it spray paint as one uses to fix the car paint?

Did you take it apart completely with hinges and everything?

Very well done! I found that the local hardware store carries flat rolled aluminum for roof gutters that Is 24" wide and about 8 feet long for very little $. It cuts easily with heavy scissors and makes a great tray for these stoves. It also works well for other stove projects like wind screens.

Excellent work survivor, and what a transformation your 111 has come up really well, even though the red is not an original colour match, the red really suits the stove it is a shame Optimus never used red on their 111s.

Great idea, but, there may be a coating on one or more sides of that material. A rubbing with steel wool will remove it. That is necessary before flame is near it.

Thank you for that useful information. Actually, I gave about the same as what one would have been in the states. Paid more to have it shipped, if I remember correctly it had to be shipped by a specific carrier because of the fuel issue. But I am not exaggerating when I say it was fuel soaked on arrival. The box had been torn open (inspection i suppose) and just folded back together. I completed the work over a year ago and had stored it so I just took it out and decided to post after reading some posts about not painting the stoves. Thank you again and I will keep this info with the stove should I ever need parts or decide to sell.

Dspearsy2k - Again thank you for the information.

Bajabum, Dunny, vintagetwinschock, geneislucky, viscara, Sirvandal and Dutch_Peter - I appreciate the kind words. It means alot to me. I have probably 40-80 hours of enjoyed labor on it.

Mikecombat - I used engine high heat paint

Bob Robert - looked last night and the seller is no longer selling online.

Sparky - got the aluminum and will cut it this weekend
    Geneislucky

Mr Optimus - couldn't locate the right matching paint or it would have been green. Spent many days and places looking.

Snwcmpr - Yessir you are correct on the Aluminum having a film on it. Intend to take it off with a light sanding and an acetone rub.

    It Does FIRE UP
