    Hey all,
Does anyone know where I can get one of these? I've tried the Bay, Coleman Old Parts and the Fettlebox with no success. I modified (over and over) a ball point pen spring and got it to work but not consistently. Too much spring tension and it doesn't pump, too little and it doesn't hold pressure. ](*,) I'm thinking it needs a VERY soft spring about 1/2" long. Most ball point springs are too stiff. Thx!Jerry

I use a ballpoint pen spring myself, cut to length as needed. It sounds like your problem may be as much in the NRV pip as the spring. The need for a high spring pressure points this way. If the pip's so hard/imperfect that only ultra-high spring pressures make it seal, it's too hard.

I use pen springs and cut them such that the NRV pip's face is about 1-2mm proud of the retainer, before it's installed. I cut the springs with a diamond wheel on my dremel, though diagonal cutters work if they're small and sharp.

    Hope this helps,

    J

OK thanks for the measurement and the help!

The PIP is new and in good shape to create a seal so I'll keep after the spring.

It is the same as what is used in the M-1950 stove as well. M-1942 pumps not so common. M-1950 parts are out there.

Argh, I hate it when I do this, but I gave you incorrect measurement above. Checked my NRV pip (on my 1950, same, same), and the spring lenght is such that the end of the spring protrudes about 2mm from the retainer. The entire pip extends beyond the NRV body when the spring's relaxed.

Sorry 'bout that, and good luck!
