    9061 PUMP HELP--
I'm still having problems with the valve at the base of the enders 9061 pump..
fuel backs up into the pump tube or i can't get any pressure to the tank..
a close-up photo or detailed drawing would help---or a new pump---

    Keith,
That was a concern of mine and I knew that when I bought it. Still HAD to have it ! I have already contemplated a bit about how to make another pump uniy work with it, and the stove proper parts would be fairly easy to fashion or scrounge. Only concern would be getting a jet to fit. Very simple design really, a primer cup at the bottom, vaporizing chamber, jet, and burner caps, with a fuel heating line running through burn area and down to the chamber.

    Doc,
I was correct then in assuming I had not preheated the durned thing for the kerosene. I am able to acheive a simmer on mine after first burning full throttle for a minute or so. It is a touchy thing to do without shutting 'er down completely though. Maybe fitting a better metering valve between the hose-end and the inlet stem would do a better, more controllable simmer? Just a fettle thought for a later day.

When will you be in Tacoma?

    Hi Dave,
Back on topic here. See http:// The NRV is basically the same as this drawing. You need a good seal between parts 34/3 (should be small rubber insert in lower end 30/4) and 400/3 (the valve seal). Mine came without a spring. I picked up a couple small ones at the hardware store for under $1, put the one that fit best in the tube 34/1 and had to cut 1/2 turn of the spring off at a time till the pump would let air through the valve and still check the returning pressure. Hope you get it running. Really quite a nice stove.

    Best regards,

    Hal

    Hey, Hal,

I think that finding a way to use a better pump and fuel metering setup would be an admirable goal! When I first got my own Firejet, I thought I'd found the "perfect" stove. But, after using it quite a bit, it's not versatile enough for me. I much prefer the Nova, the Optimus #11 Explorer, or maybe the Primus Omni-fuel, which I've not had the chance to light, as of yet. I've not had your luck in getting my Firejet to simmer, or at least not well, anyway. Great little stove, though, even so!

We arrive in Tacoma Wednesday, July 5th, and depart on Monday, July 10th. As always, we have a friend housesitting for us, but we do not wish to bother him with having to shuttle phone calls to us. So, I'm going to PM you my cell phone number. If you can get some time, I'll drive up your way, and we can have lunch and talk stoves. Or, if you have a complete day, it's possible that Ed and I may get to do a day of stove hunting, and I'm going to turn Ed onto my "secret" stove finding places!!!! You're welcome to come along, if you can make it, and if we can arrange such an outting! I'll send the PM as soon as I send this off. Then, it's back to work today, and off with this danged "confuser"!! ;) Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc Mark
