    Hi All

Stephen Molson contacted me & asked if i could make travel caps for the mini petol stoves like 70's , 71's , 80's & 123's etc :D  so here's the first trial one & thanks to the "BernieDawgmeister" for his help & the original work on the subject 8)    .

My first trial one is a bit different & has a Viton seal inside too stopping any latent dribbles of fuel  :D

    Best regards Stu :D

Nice work Stu! It looks like it was an original feature of the stove.

Nice work Stu, but though a travel cap for a Primus 70 is essential, one for the regulated burner series isn't, surely.

Those little Monitor paraffin stoves with a keeper cap (often missing) are certainly a deserving case for a reproduction replacement Monitor Picnic .

Blimey John, you been on the happy juice when you wrote that first sentence?  .

But I get your drift. The Lamb would also be a good contender.

    Great work Stu.

Awesome Stu, great job and thanks BernieD for his help/advice as well. There are more than a few 70's (and those Lamb stoves, if they have the same thread-size) out there missing their travel caps so I'm sure you made more than a few people quite happy. Thanks again!

edit: It's likely Stu mentioned the regulated burners because that is what he used to test-size/fit the caps on. He did not have a 70, however the burner bell threads of the 71's, 123, etc are identical to those of the 70. SO he worked on the regulated versions and that is most likely how they ended up in the description (familiarity).

    Hey, Stu,

Outstanding work, Sir, and well done in all respects!! Thanks, too, to the Ol' Dawg, for his input and info on this!!

AS to "needing" one of these great little travel caps, well, hey, even though I have no "need" of one right now, you never know when 70 might come my way!! ;)  So, hey, having one might be a good omen, right?!!?! ;) ;) 8)

Well done, Stu!! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Hi guys

Thanks for the great comments & constructive advice.

This one was only a test one to get the feel of the job in hand , the next will be much more like the originals if i can !!!!.

Gary the Dawgmeister has put me right on a few points but as i said i have not got an original to work from. Stephen kindly pointed out that i do not yet have a 70 so the cap was bunged on a 123 for show !!

as for the Monitor travel caps i have the kit to make them already to spec !!

Best regards to all , Stu.

    Hi Stu.

If you need to borrow a Lamb cap I'm more than happy to send you mine. It fits the Lamb petrol stove and the similar sized 'Governor Paraffin Stove'.

    Hi Stu,

John (Presscall) did mention that a regulated burner shouldn't dribble, usually they don't.

My repaired 70 with 71 burner head will weep slightly out of the jet if stored in a warm place with the fuel filler cap on tight. That burner head is, after all, nearly 80 years old, I have tried cleaning the needle & seat, I daresay owing to it's age, it's probably entitled to weep. :-({|=

There must be others out there with a weeping 71/80/early 123, fitting a travel cap should stem the leak. :?:

    Best wishes=John.

I desperately need travel caps for my OO and 45. Sourcing a stove parts from overseas hasn't been successful.

The "boss" doesn't like the smell of kerosene as much as I do. HELP

    Buzz
    I could use a cap for a 123 also..
