afternoon, meva no 1 , silent , leaking non return valve (nrv).... application of screwdriver & torque for removal of same ..results in bottom twisting off pump... nrv rattling inside tank ..oops . this is getting too involved ,,,but i like the stove & figuring .i cant bo******((ks it any more so out comes the solder kit . the disc around the nrv is pump base.. the leg fell off whilst heating to remove the pump ...brass is an excellent heat conductor!! oh what have i done ... another fine mess ive got myself in to piss poor pic but the result of two burnt pinkies & 15 mins of scrape & polish meva back on its feet , with a hopefully secure pump base one for mr. spudz.... the first firing of fettled stove.. self lighting & generating nicely 10 strokes of pump & .......control your self spudz.....isnt that lovely ... they came from outer space. link[/url] interesting discovery? ...the meva is the only kero stove i own that has a depressed annular around the riser tube ..like small self generating petrol stoves 80/71/123 etc.. cept on meva its about 3inches diameter ...its a pre heat annular ??... well im using it as such ....fill pre heater with 7.5 ml meths .. plus another 3 or 4 ml in annular ...dont need to pump to get pressure up ...the hot tank does it for you.... im lazy. i didnt want to get so involved ,,, but im glad i did .... a case of a 5 min job taking an hour cheers my drears ... have a good one nick
Things often get worse before they get better ! Well done with the soldering, it turned out as a nice job, and having the piece of mind to photo it when all around was turning to s**t ! Can't believe the depressed annular is for pre-heat, I reckon that's why they fitted a spirit cup
Nice clean job ! soldering can be so ..... messy ! Did you use the old plumber's trick,wiping with a piece of leather ? Plumber's solder or electric ? Well,Done

Im with Dave, good catch! I would have retreated and called it a victory for the parts bin. I havent tried to solder a stove yet but no doubt that will come.....
Hey Nick, Great fettle ! How could you solder the pump? There is no solder seen overflowed. Heating pump section causes the solder made inner side of the tank melted. Hence re-soldering requires to solder the pump from its outer section left out of the tank. At least I thought so. Do you have some photos about this soldering? Best regards, Sefa

Mornin' all, I suspect there might be a little of 'tongue-in-cheek', associated with Ross' Q. (I'm sure he knows the answer) but it got me thinking, always a bad thing with me So, I got some paper and drew a circle, then marked where the legs are on the stove, and thought about the options for placing the pump assembly and filler cap. Now, I'm not a designer nor and engineer, but I don't think there are that many 'options' available for the placement of these 2 parts! Taking Ross' statement of ".. pump & filler cap right next to the legs" and trying to avoid that location, you automatically think something like Filler cap in the middle between 2 legs ... pump in the middle between one of these legs and the other leg. Looks good, but then you realise that the pump runs right under the centre of the tank, thus the riser tube, which extends down into the tank to access the fuel from low down in the tank. So that wont work ! So, you offset the pump, in relation to the riser tube, and it is at an angle now to the face of the tank side, but still between 2 legs, and the filler cap is between 2 legs. Not bad. But now you have a leg & pot support sitting between the pump and the filler cap. Is that important ? Well, it might be if you get a flare up whilst pumping the stove and you have to access the relief valve in a hurry, and your hand automatically choses the shortest path, hits into the pot stand and knocks the flaming stove flying !! So, the best location for the pump and filler cap, might just be as they are, both between the same 2 legs, and so by necessity near the legs, awaiting some poor unfortunate fettler to apply a hot soldering flame to either ,whence the leg solder will promptly melt and the leg fall off !! I have toooooooo much time on my hands today and if you've read to the end of this post, then soooo have you ! Enjoy the Flame ... I particularly like the silent burner flame on the above stove, really nice !! Spudz
s so som some sss somebody mention b b b bb blowlamps......theyre taking over ..i dont collect blowlamps ..must repeat .. I DO NOT collect blowlamps ..im not so sad . i merely provide them with a "halfway house"... until i figure what to do with them.. (left myself wide open there ).. fettling is done with gas. theyre taking over .... well ordered ,trained & disciplined ,,, theyre a formidable force. the blow lamp army marches. devastating all in its path leaving its disemboweled foe strewn across the battlefield. ruthless taking prisoners ...respecting neither age ... nor size not pretty...not pretty at all ... advise to blowlamp owners.... keep them apart from your "collection"...if you have more than one blowlamp ...keep them separate .. do not .. repeat DO NOT allow them to mass .. its my sad duty to bring this to the world .... theyre not to be trusted ...theres more than a few blowlamps out there .......keep them apart .. do not let them congregate .. what ive seen today i would spare my darkest enemy....... the horror!
