That is hilarious!!! Hey, if the price stays that way, it might be a good buy for someone in the UK. Funny, the tripe that sellers post as truth, ain't it??!! Take care, and God Bless! Doc
That is how my recent Primus 96 was advertised as well. In addition, the burner was mounted on the reserve lid boss. The seller described it as an odd 'a-symmetric' burner.
I guess we've "heard it all", when it comes to stoves being advertised for sale, huh?! Thanks for sharing, and God Bless! Doc
I suppose one must cut some slack for the criminally ignorant. I see things like that quite frequently, things like "Old Antique Lanterns" (is there another kind?) that are available at retail for less than the offered price. Coleman kerosene lanterns that aren't either coleman or kerosene, Coleman kerosene suitcase stoves, sundry objects that are advertised as antique because China. I've learned to ignore or exploit the ignorance depending on whether I want the object and if the price warrants it. Then there was the guy a few blocks away who wanted $125.00 for the Coleman 425D "Military" Kerosene stove at his garage sale. It was "Military" because someone had rattle canned it with black primer and kerosene because it was "Military". He refused to light it for me because it was too valuable. As far as I know he is still cherishing it. Hard nosed ol' Gerry
Rik, I can share your sympathy for the seller not knowing anything about what they are selling. I am sure all of us have sent a PM to a seller advising them to correct something. Of course, they have no way of knowing if they are being spoofed. I try to find a post on CCS archives that illustrates something that I found in error in hopes they might believe what they find here. However, I once sent a message to a person selling a Landers, Frarey and Clark #1 Alcohol stove that they had it upside down. They said that is how it was displayed where they bought it and declined to change it. That photo is on display in our archives by the person who bought the stove (the CCS poster knew it was upside down, of course). You can lead a horse to water...
