Took this picture tonight. I had a steady blue flame but it would sputter when i tried to get it any higher than the picture. Maybe i didn't reset the needle correctly? I'm pretty sure it should be able to run hotter. it took 15 minutes to boil that pot of water.
111 or 111T? and yes, should run hotter with an adjustable flame - check pressure (seals) and needle? willie on the humid Gulf of Mexico
Linux_author, I believe that its a 111T. I can see the shadow of the outer cap in the flame. donv, At full power I would expect the flame to blossom out bigger than what is shown in the pic. If the tank is pumped up to a reasonable pressure check the needle "click position". Is that 1-pint or 1-quart of water? AR
seals are good and holding pressure. will recheck the needle tonight. I guess it's about a pint (2 cups)
i think it's a 111t. multi fuel with silent burner. the label just says 111. currently burning Kerosene
Hi, donv, Congrats on getting it running, so far. I think your cleaning needle is set too high. When you try to turn up the stove any more, it "sputters", mainly, because you are already raising the needle towards the jet, which would cause that to happen. I'll be in Los Angeles on Friday, I think about 9:30, for an eye exam. When I'm finished, if you have time, we could meet up for lunch, and I could look at your stove, if you want. If we make a plan, I can bring a few tools, and check the needle adjustment for you, and a few other things, if you want. No pressure, one way, or the other, but the offer is there, if you want to do it. By the way, I set my cleaning needles on most such stoves, down between 4-5 clicks. In the Optimus Maintenance Manual that I have, 3-4 clicks is recommended. But, I've found that sometimes, for some stoves, 5 clicks will do the trick. For some stoves, however, less clicks will do it. Each stove has it's own personality. In any case, let me know if you want to meet up, and I can check it out for you. Take care, and God Bless! link of my stove running [media=youtube]rP36o1kkxe8[/media] i reset the needle. it seems to be running well, boiled pot of water in less than 5 minutes. no more sputtering. When i lowered the flame i got more of a yellow flame, normal? anyway, i feel i'm headed in the right direction.
Yep, it looks good until you turn it way down. What fuel you are using for the video? Do you know which jet is installed? It does look to me that you could get a little more oomph on high, but that could just be how much you decided to pump it. (that said, I doubt I have ever used more than 7 or 8 strokes of the pump with my 111s.)
using kerosene. i pumped it a bout 6 times. i took the pump out and once again i'm seeing a little bit of fuel in the tube. i changed the vavle with a new one but the pip literally crumbled to dust after 4 months which makes me think it was made from the wrong material (bought direct from a&h) put the old pip in the new valve and it's leaking again. i think this is my only issue that needs fixing at this point. (as far as my stove goes)
Hi, donv, It's looking much better, but still way too yellow in the flames. Like Itchy asked, what fuel are you using? Is it K-1 water-white kerosene, or something else that is "like" kerosene? You should have a steady, nicely blue flame, from high to low, and a much better simmer than you currently have. I'd check the jet, and your fuel, as has been suggested. Take care, and God Bless! hi Doc, i'm using straight up water white kerosene. regarding friday, I'm in hollywood. If you can make it over i can probably get you a parking spot in my lot. Let me know. or maybe we could meet halfway between Downtown and hollywood. I can probably do a 2 hr lunch.

Maybe you could run the tank empty and refill to get all the old crap out of the system. I would try a new jet too.
